We've been wanting to got to this restaurant for a long time, after reading about the best milk tea in HK. Finally made it. Me and my husband and our two kids went.
First, the restaurant is in Treaure Court (not in Beauty Court). We first looked in Beauty Court, and couldn't find it, crossed the street via the subway to look for another restaurant, then we found Tai Fat!
Being foreigners, we couldn't read Cantonese and speak very little of it. The staff is surprisingly friendly (been to a lot of cha chan teng with rude staff). First they asked if we can read chinese, when we said no, they handed over the English menu to us.
We ordered the 3 steak sets on sizzling plate (for me, my husband, and my teenage son @ 88 HKD per set, including a hot drink, soup, and rice/spaghetti), hotdog sandwich for my daughter, and of course, their famous milk tea.
Hot milk tea - this is hands-down the best milk tea I tried! Smooth, not bitter, rich, and creamy. I only wish they have brown sugar - maybe I should bring my own brown sugar next time :-) I had 2 cups of this! They charge 16 HKD/cup if not with a meal. Very much worth it!
Iced milk tea - same as the hot milk tea, it's smooth, not bitter, rich, and creamy.... 18 HKD/glass, again, very much worth it! Husband had 2 glasses.
The steaks were served with fries at the bottom, and some vegetable on the side of the sizzling plate. A bowl of soup (cream soup or chinese soup) a small plate of egg fried rice. They even gave us one more bowl of soup for free for my daughter (we did not order a set for her).
We had:
Chicken steak - this was good, chicken was tender and juicy. My husband finished everything.
Sirloin steak - It is very big but this wasn't so good. Lots of tough bits. The steak is not tasty. Overly peppered as well. It didn't taste like beef.
Brazil steak - same as the sirloin steak, a huge serving! But not tasty, and overly peppered. It didn't taste like beef.
The quality of the beef steak is not good. I guess they go for quantity. We rather have a small piece of steak with better quality.
Hotdog sandwich - this was with a macau crispy bun (yummy) with a couple of slices of pickles, a hotdog, and sweet mayo. Really yummy!
Overall, we had a great time, the staff are really friendly, and will definitely be back for more (but maybe not for the steaks). When we look at other tables, the chinese food they serve look so delicious!
