I had dinner here; 4 adults 1 child. We had a variety of food (sashimi, sushi, rolls, skewers, cooked food, rice, etc.) and total bill was $4500. That included 3 beers, no other drinks.
The food was just ok - not worth the what was being charged.
Service was mediocre and the staff came across as inexperienced, and not the level you would expect for that price point. For example:
(1) when the Wagyu rice with Japanese egg yolk we ordered arrive, it’s placed at the outer end of the table and we asked it to be place in front of the individual that ordered the dish. The server looks at us in disdain, saying, “well, I have to torch it HERE.” We were taken aback by the attitude; while we understand after the server made the statement that that’s what they needed to do which explained why they placed the dish closer to them, they could have been much more polite to explain and most importantly, actually moved the dish in front of the person eating it after it was torched (which they did not).
(2) when the food arrived and we asked what it was (we ordered multiple dishes of sashimi/rolls and so some looked similar), the server just looked at us blankly for a minute, and came back 5 minutes later with the answer.
(3) some appetisers we ordered at the beginning came at the end of the meal (after we said they could cancel them if they forgot about them.)
(4) constantly needed to ask for a tea refill, even though it we were not drinking tea that quickly and there were plenty of staff around
(5) we had brought a cake (which we were charged $275 to cut, and we were told in advance and ok with), and after blowing out the candle, etc., we asked them to actually cut for us; the server was surprised and we had to say - you charged us $250 (+10%), so is there a problem with helping cut/serve?
This sounds like a first world problem (and it is!) and the above is not exhaustive. You could hear the wait staff bickering amongst themselves - which again, just reflected of unprofessional service. I totally understand and agree with the notion that you get what you pay for, but whilst not necessarily a 5 star price, definitely not standard you would expect for the price.
For same price, I have found better food quality, or even the same food quality with much much better service and attitude. I would not go again or recommend friends to go.
