This place is a stange little local restaurant in the bowls of Loong King Mansions in Hung Hom. It is a cheap place that seems not to cook anything on their own menu.
I visited out of sheer desperation and although I got an edible meal, it wasn't the best. Combine this with a lady who made you feel like you were a massive burden and you get a pretty sad experience.
So, I don't speak Cantonese - they didn't speak English. Normally, no problem, as the picture menu on the wall should be enough. Not in this case. Every picture I pointed at resulted in the the word 'no' from the server. OK. Well after a few more choices, finally, I managed to order a plate of fried Singapore noodles. The lady then went to the kitchen and she and the cook started pointing at me and laughing. Well, I can take a joke at my expense and while I didn't let it bother me (I was so hungry), it isn't the most pleasant thing to do to a customer who is paying you for your food and service.
First, a bowl of really awful pork bone broth was tossed onto my table. One spoonful was enough to determine that it tasted like dirty water. So, it remained untouched for the rest of my meal.
Next, my noodles came. The rice noodles themselves were fine and coated in curry powder. While it had a slightly raw curry taste, the dish was edible and did the trick. It was also huge and filled me up. The meat on the dish was mostly processed with a few tiny cubes of char siu. The prawns were OK, although they had not been deveined and the sac remained inside.
I paid another sour-faced lady $36 and left to no word of thanks (despite my own - IN CANTONESE!). Well, suffice to say, I will not be returning or urging others to try it. The sight of the cook coming out of the kitchen, putting his hand in a bag, stuffing his mouth with the slice of white bread he found in it and then, without washing his hands, getting back to cooking, was enough to confirm my terrible choice for dinner.
