Dinner with the Shanghai clan in private room. I’ve always preferred the Club, but eager to give this another chance.First, a trio of appetizers: 醬蹄- made with pork. Not a fan of the salty taste.燻魚- quite crispy. Didn’t like the small bones inside. 素黃雀- which was in effect 腐皮素菜捲, tied in a knot. I liked 👍🏼黃金蝦球- ok. Prawns meaty. First, a trio of appetizers:
醬蹄- made with pork. Not a fan of the salty taste.
燻魚- quite crispy. Didn’t like the small bones inside.
素黃雀- which was in effect 腐皮素菜捲, tied in a knot. I liked 👍🏼
黃金蝦球- ok. Prawns meaty. Could be a bit crispier outside.
蔥油餅- could also be a bit crispier outside. Filling I liked tho.
火朣雞燉翅- the broth tasted very meaty so the Chinese ham and chicken, but some said the broth at the Club was even meatier.
鴛鴦沙嘴魚- the deep fried bits went well with the mayonnaise (not oily like fish n chips), the fried bits were fresh. (Can’t imagine this as a traditional Shanghainese dish).
年糕炒蟹- not a fan of crab. Tasted one piece of 年糕:explosion of flavors. So salty and sweet at the same time. Had to take some gulps of water. Others seemed to be enjoying the crab tho. My brother loved the Chinese peas that were mixed.
豆瓣莧菜- my favorite dish of the nite. 莧菜 easy to chew, Chinese beans and garlic cloves 👍🏼
鴛鴦小鍋貼- these 鍋貼 were smaller than the usual ones. Mixture of pork and vegetarian. I preferred the vegetarian- less oily. The outside was very crispy for both. I liked.
棗泥南瓜餅- the dessert I’ve been saving my stomach for. Apparently the restaurant’s signature. 棗泥 was perfect amount of sweetness, but I could only finish half.
芝麻涼卷- reminded me of 香蕉糕. Yummy.
In summary; sorry, despite the excellent service, all these flavors were too strong for me. I still prefer the Club.
