Sushi was one of my favorite but since we know our restaurant owner back in the US, it is hard for us to adjust to the high price sushi in HK. However, we found Gold Teppanyaki through our family friend and went there several times for lunch and dinner ever since and liked it more and more every time. We tried many times, lunch sets, sushi dinner and Tappanyaki, all were very good and solid. Service was attentive, and the owner was very informative and loves to chi chat, very friendly.
The best lunch set was Uni, Salmon Roe and chopped tuna rice bowl, $130 with soup, snacks and dessert. Very good deal compare to Central prices. Also very fresh and delicious.
Teppanyaki at night we had two dinner sets with my family of 4 and the portions were good and not too expensive for the quality of food that they give us.
Sushi dinner was really fresh and the owner even taught us all about the fish and how to eat properly to get the best flavor...very educational! If you eat alone sometimes, sit at the sushi bar and you can have a good time with him.
One side note was the smell, the ventilation was not etiquette for the size of the teppanyaki table. Our clothes always end up smelly when we leave no matter where we sit. So wear washable clothing. Private room and special order is available so make sure you ask when you make reservation. Reservation is also recommended for lunch and dinner. Small place so fill up quickly.
Overall, this will become our go to place for down to earth good sushi!
