A friend and I ate here for lunch a few days ago and really enjoyed our time. The vibe of the place is casual and upbeat and the food is delicious and well presented. As for the authenticity, I’m not an expert — but my friend is Malaysian and gave everything the thumbs up. (The only issue was that he said the desert should be way more sugary.) i’ll attach photos of what we had to the review but really I can recommend each of the dishes. Our servers were also attentive and informative. Will come

我在灣仔一帶都食過好多東南亞餐廳,Bibi & Baba絕對係其中一間值得推介嘅餐廳。雖然價錢小貴,但係食物同埋環境都好有質素。裝修以現代工業風作主調,大部份位都係吧枱,清楚睇到廚房入邊嘅一舉一動,確保食物衞生同埋新鮮程度😝今次我主要叫咗一份午餐、一個小食同埋一份甜品-1. 星馬菜經典中嘅經典,外表唔係好討好,但係食落就停唔到口。當中辣味加埋鮮甜嘅醬汁,唔使雞髀就咁撈飯食都食得晒碗飯。未食過嘅朋友真係應該試吓。

2. Ngor Hiang
簡單來講係豬肉、馬蹄同蜜餞冬瓜腐皮卷。香脆可口。口感略嫌實左啲,如果可以多d馬蹄可能好食啲。

3. Chendol
沙冰椰奶上面加上綠色粉條,賣相都幾有特色,好有東南亞嘅感覺。椰香味好濃,消暑解渴一流。

As a noodles maniac, I decided to have both Laksa Noodles and Penang Prawn Mee.
The Laksa soup is so rich, and I like the coconut broth so much. The Prawn Tee is slightly spicy but it’s alright for me as I’m always fond of spicy food. To me, I was hoping for a more prawny broth, but it was still tasty with the pork flavour solely. Overall, I still like the dish with the combination of the ingredients, especially the mixed noodles (yellow noodles and rice vermicelli gives a extra texture

A new Singaporean/Malay restaurant in the Wan Chai hood.  Went there on a Sunday 10 minutes before the opening hopefully to avoid the long queue but there were already over 30 people in line; I then checked Openrice and found they there are 46 seats in this restaurant meaning I should be able to get in during the first round hence decided to join the hype and waited for a bit.  It took around 20 minutes before we were seated.- Prawn mee - the broth was flavorful and not greasy, it comes with few

- Prawn mee - the broth was flavorful and not greasy, it comes with few pieces of prawn which was a plus and it's definitely a competent bowl of prawn noodle but the portion could be bigger

- Beef rendang with blue pea rice (ordered separately) - the beef was so tender and flavorful which you'll need a bowl of rice to go along with it.  The blue pea rice looks unique but it just tasted like a bowl of white rice.

- Otah - a pleasant surprise when you unwrap the banana leaf to find a piece of aromatic and spicy seafood

Came here for lunch and opted for beef rendang and decided to take out instead of dine in due to the current dining restrictions. Upon opening the take away box I was disappointed with the small portion of beef but maybe the taste could make up for the insufficiency. One bite and the taste didn’t make up for the portion size, the quality of beef was average but the rendang sauce was the deal breaker, it’s not close to any rendang I have eaten in South East Asia and would not satisfy someone that

環境舒適、有特色裝修。服務員親善有禮。食物尚算色香味俱全,但味道可有進步空間。午餐等候時間較長,建議提早前往。Comfortable environment with distinctive decoration. Waiters and waitress are nice and polite with good service. The food is colorful, aromatic, and tasty, not bad, but do have improve area for the taste. Recommended to go earlier as lunch time is packed with longer waiting time.

My friends and I were excited to check this new Malaysian restaurant out, having walked by and seen photos of the food online. I personally am a huge fan of Malay food so I was quite excited to try! We got there at 6 and there was already a line forming outside, they took a while to get people seated so by the time we were let inside (we were 5 pax), it was already 6:20pm. The menu has a pretty good selection of food, but definitely not vegetarian friendly. There were quite a few seafood options

This is a fish mousse, wrapped and grilled in a banana leaf. It slightly resembles a fish cake, but softer in texture. It was pretty yum with just the right amount of flavour. If anything, it's quite flat so there wasn't much to go around but it was labeled as a small plate so don't expect a large portion.

The prawns were cooked really well, nice and tender and was coated in  a pretty yummy sambal sauce. The onions that were in the dish made a great accompaniment to rice as well. My only issue with the dish is that the sato beans were really bitter. I get that some foods can taste pretty good bitter, but I wasn't a fan of it in this dish. I thought it overpowered the main flavours of prawn and sambal as it was just that bitter. Also for the price, we could have been given a couple more pieces of prawn.

As small as this dish was given the price, it was pretty delicious! It was my personal favourite dish of the night. This dish features squid rings covered in a squid ink sauce. The squid was really tender and the sauce was nice and savoury. Definitely a must try even if it is a bit pricey (the portion is not that big)! Would definitely check a mirror after eating this, the squid ink really does get everywhere haha 😂

This was an assortment of vegetables stir-fried together, mainly cabbage, but I liked that it featured some not-so-common ingredients like wood ear and snow ear mushrooms, lotus seeds and mixed with glass noodles throughout. Not bad!

We also got a couple bowls of Jasmine Rice $28 to share, as well as a Milo Dinosaur $88 drink (which was a bit too sweet, bit was a great throwback to our childhood). Overall, the food was alright, but what let the restaurant down was the hospitality. Once we placed our order, the staff let us know that as the plates aren't that big, we should order more food. We wanted to wait till the dishes came and then decide if we needed more, we already ordered rice to share too so we thought it would be okay for us. She came back twice more after the starters were served, insisting that we should order more, and especially telling us to get the fish dish (which FYI is the most expensive thing on the menu). I'm all for staff giving recommendations, but they really shouldn't be pushy, especially when we already declined, and it's not like she was very friendly whilst making this suggestion either. Also, as mentioned, we got seated at 6:20pm, and at 7:30pm, the staff approached us to tell us that our 90minute dining time was up and that we had to leave. I don't even think half the queue got seated before 6:15pm so that was a bit uncalled for and we had to ask them if we could stay until our actual dining time was up. Will think twice about dining here again. 🤦‍♀️

After waiting in a long queue, I was particularly hungry so I ordered Nasi Lemak + Ngor Hiang + Otah + Chendol ALL FOR MYSELF! And, I finished everything - that tells you how delicious everything was!!I find the flavours and texture both bold and refined. One can easily tell how much heart was poured into it to make them so yummy.  Despite the high turnover and the many guests, the service was excellent. I can't wait to try all the other dishes on the menu that my fellow patrons were eating. Wis

After hearing on all the hypes, my friends and I went to Bibi & Baba and tried out their take on the Peranakan cuisine. We ordered the Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee, Achar, Chendol, Beer Rendang, Nyonya Curry Ayam, Chendol and Iced Coffee (Kopi). However, we found that the restaurant failed to deliver the expected taste or service.  Here are the top 3 disappointments:

#1/ Iced Kopi - One would expect getting real taste of coffee from Malaysia and Singapore. When the order came, the colour of the coffee is off. Firstly, the iced coffee (with condensed milk) in Malaysia comes in a much darker shade of brown. Bibi & Baba's take on the coffee was light brownish, a bit like Nescafe with ice. Obviously we were in for a bad surprise. The taste of the kopi was bland -> like if you ordered a kopi ping in malaysia, finished it, and drink it again after the ice melts. We returned the coffee and they actually remake the coffee, but the taste was still beyond salvation. I would rate this a 0/10.

#2/ Prawn Mee - It was so obvious that the chefs have not been to Penang nor do they know how to cook this dish properly. Any chef or hawker in Penang worth his/her salt would not have commit a travesty such as putting in chili powder with Prawn Mee. The taste of this dish failed too. Instead of a savoury dish with strong soup cooked with shrimp heads and shells, this dish was a tad on a sweeter side. Nothing close to what you can get at any stalls in Penang. Given how it tasted, I was surprised they would be willing to misrepresent that as Penang Prawn Noodles. 0/10

#3/ Chendol - Slapping a lot of gula melaka does not make a good chendol. A good chendol relies on the balance of coconut milk, gula melaka and of course the texture of the chendol. I was served with basically a slab of shaved ice with lots of gula melaka. The chefs utterly failed to capture the right balance for this dish.  2/10 - 2 for the gula melaka and I have a sweet tooth!

While I won't review the other dishes, they are not great either. Overall, this may be a great restaurant who had no experience at all with Peranakan food and do not know what to expect. The design, environment and layout were great. For those who are out for real proper Nyonya food, this is one restaurant that I cannot recommend.

「檳城🦐麵」PENANG PRAWN MEE 這個湯是用蝦頭及豬骨熬製而成的濃湯底,用蝦頭煮出來的湯有獨特的香氣,檳城蝦麵最特色的是用米粉混合油麵一齊奉客的,鮮蝦、魚餅、豬肩肉都非常美味,鮮蝦彈牙可口,魚餅亦是我喜愛的。最後當然要吃他們的娘惹甜品這才算完美的組合。

It’s so nice to try this in Hong Kong The Laksa is so nice The Tofu and the rice noodle are ship from Singapore because it can’t buy it in hk Most recommended is the meat ball soup No MSG in it for sure Will be back for it !!

Good for local hong kong people and those who like limited flavour. Still give this restaurant good likes and rating as it is HK suitable and other people I ate with enjoy. Nice clean place. Good quality food and ingredients I am 1) Malaysian citizen 2) fat fat 3) love food 4) was super hungry. I am best qualified to review nonya food in HK. I like laksa that burn ur a55 make u regret eating, buy u always go back because taste > pain. I ate this laksa here, then wonder where to eat nextAssum

I am 1) Malaysian citizen 2) fat fat 3) love food 4) was super hungry. I am best qualified to review nonya food in HK. I like laksa that burn ur a55 make u regret eating, buy u always go back because taste > pain. I ate this laksa here, then wonder where to eat next

Assuming that the two chef guys they have modified their cooking style for a more easy going HK / southern Chinese audience and bland taste without the combination of sour, salty, sweet + local nonya flavours all at once

Har mee taste like no prawn head in stock, only have sweet and pork flavour. Laksa soup is like coconut soup as per their menu "coconut base broth" it really was like coconut as the highlight. it's like having a shoyu ramen when you expect tonkotsu instead

Small dishes good ar. Can pass for good restaurant food and not kampung style
