太座接收工,想食韓國菜,看到中區有此店,心想一試無妨,估不到真是只可一試。此店原本環境不錯,食品質素就一般,如可輕輕鬆鬆坐下飲杯酒是好地方,但可惜服務水準卻非常一般,當天是星期一,一入門口空無一人,待應已說只可用膳兩個小時,但到我們離開時也只還有三檯客,這種待客之道真不敢恭維,另外他們星期一原來消費滿三佰元會送一客海鮮煎餅,但待應卻不會主動介紹他們的推廣,到我們結賬後,細看在檯面放著的酒水推廣牌的背面,在牌中間一小段才發現有這推廣,送得這麼吝嗇,倒不如取消它吧!坐下後我們先點了兩個頭盤(個待應似乎嫌點得小,態度怪怪地),計有泡菜煎餅和生牛肉沙律。於點菜後店方送上餐前六款小食:薯仔粒清淡ok;豆卜味道剛好,入口不太咸,汁醬鮮美;青菜太老,入口有渣;牛蒡不夠入味,只有色而欠味,入口太淡;泡菜不算辣,入口水份適中,可接受;反而簡單的芽菜夠清甜,是六款中最好的一樣。上頭盤了,泡菜煎餅味較淡,食不到泡菜味但油卻多了一點,底也不夠脆;生牛肉沙律,牛肉新鮮但沒有細心挑選,有根未除清,蘋果絲和沙葛絲非常清甜爽口。主菜點了什菌牛肉炒年糕和辣醬燒五花腩,什菌牛肉炒年糕料很足,年糕入口夠煙靱,不太油,什菌爽

事實上韓式燒烤牛肋骨給香港人的印象就是「預設」配白飯, 店方卻配上大量新鮮蔬菜, 原來別有用心, 效果是出奇地好, 味道平衡得來有出奇的化學效果, 值得考慮放棄傳統的觀念。

食物無疑是好, 無奈卻給店方的上菜安排大大破壞。[u]點選的一個前菜和兩個主菜幾乎於同一時間到達: 首先來到的香脆醃製牛肉沙律配韓國柚子汁, 「檸茶」還未吃完第一片酥炸牛肉, 兩個主菜便送到來, 有見及價錢最貴和看來最易變冷的韓式燒烤牛肋骨, 只好即時變陣, 先吃後者, 之後的韓式牛肉石燒飯, 上檯時原本熱騰騰, 吃過牛肋肉再來處理, 已經因溫度降低而失色不少; 最後, 還未吃的幾片酥炸牛肉已經變成完全冰冷狀態。


這樣子的上菜安排, 店方基本上完全沒有考慮到顧客的感受, 這個情況, 於這些較為高檔的餐廳來說, 過去只會在字面上擁有大量米芝蓮星星的利苑集團才會以極速形式將所有菜式煮好, 並一次過送到檯上, 務求顧客盡快吃完, 結賬離開, 而 JANG 的人流不算多, 對於這個安排實在大感不惑, 看來店方要注意一下。

My colleague and I went to Jang for a drink and some food as I read a number of good reviews on the internet. We sat at the bar table and it was quite comfy to my surprise. Service and ambience was nice. Drink list was not extensive and we had ordered two dishes to share. Kimchi is kind of bland and other food was under seasoned. 跟一段時間没見的小哥見面, 選了這家兩人都没吃過的JANG。身邊很多朋友都不能吃辣, 或者是素食主義者, 難得可以找得人來陪我吃韓菜。JANG在L Place的18樓, 地方寬敞, 空間感强, 坐得非常舒服; 當然, 這裡主要客源都是白領上班族, 當天的座上客也有一半是外籍人士, 在這點上是有一定優勢。看一下餐牌, 午餐15款lunch set special, 牛肋骨, 豆腐湯, 石頭飯, 海鮮, 燒烤等等。除此之外還有8款chef special以供選擇。還未點菜, 侍應已送上熱茶和前菜拼盤 (8/10), 效率快兼有禮貌, 服務不俗。前菜有茄子, 西蘭花, 蓮藕, 泡菜, 薯仔和豆腐, 排開陣容鼎盛。味道上尚算不錯, 印象最深刻的要算是薯仔和泡菜, 薯仔是我最愛的甜薯, 雖然不是一般吃到的薄片, 但塊頭不小, 做到口感味道皆好。泡菜也是新鮮, 不會過辣或者過酸, 作為開胃小菜一級棒!小哥的韓式燒烤牛肋骨先上。雖然顏色有點單調, 但牛肋骨肉質看起來很不錯, 配上一些葱絲, 香氣連我這個坐對面的也聞得到。也許份量不算多, 看小哥這個吃飯很慢的人三爬兩撥就解决了。我的 韓式牛肉石燒飯

我的 韓式牛肉石燒飯 (8/10)過了3分鐘左右也到了。一盤端來, 顏色豐富不用説, 份量也是不小
! 先喝隨餐附送的湯, 像是白菜湯之類, 有那麼一點點味精, 但入口不會太鹹, 如果可以加入豆腐, 味道應該可以更鮮。石燒飯上桌還是非常熱燙, 把韓式辣醬全部倒進去, 用湯匙拌匀, 拌的過程中不停有滋滋聲, 也因為石鍋夠熱, 飯焦制作過程簡單輕鬆!
上面的蛋黄是温泉蛋般, 大概5成熟, 把它揉進飯裡面增加蛋香。野菜份量和種類皆豐, 尤其木耳絲和高麗菜, 有麻油香又夠脆, 連飯一起吃簡直是爽! 如果能加入牛蒡絲或者筍絲就更好了。牛肉份量頗多, 但嫌稍微煮得過久, 有點韌, 但至少牛味十足!


飯後甜點是一塊類似紅豆糕的物體, 上面有pat cream。雖然賣相不佳 (事實是我拍得差
), 但其實它微甜而不漏, 口感介乎於紅豆蓉和紅豆糕之間, 算是對到我的口味。如果是我, 連cream我也不需要了。

要説正宗韓國菜, JANG絕對不及阿*水, 應該説是不同經營方針吧, JANG用料不俗, 但食物種類 (至少lunch set是這樣)屬於快餐店級别, 所有都是大路菜式。要説優勝, 應該是格調和服務吧~ 至少味道我是覺得可以接受, 加上這樣的環境和服務, 我不會吝啬給它一個笑臉

The food was great - we had their food tasting menu for 450 / head and they gave us 5 course dinner with dessert.
We started with chicken salad with sweet sour sauce (my favorite); kimchi pancake; LA galbi; rice dumpling stew (mandoo gook); kimchi fried rice; crispy rice dumplings (must have).
For majority of the guys, this size was perfect but some girls could not finish which was fine since we ended up eating all while we were drinking.

The best part of this dinner is they have all you can drink for 188 / head!!!! This deal seemed crazy since we had a drink before coming here and one glass of whisky was 120 at the same building.

We had twenty people total and must have had about 25-30 bottles of mixed Korean drinks with 15-20 beers. We also ordered limitless number of soft drinks and it was all covered in 188. I have never seens this kind of deal before and we ended up drinking until we had to move onto the next place.

It's rare to see a place with good food with cheap drinks in Central and this was a great find. I will definitely come back whenever I need to drink more than 2 beers.

I had dinner last night with three friends and it was outstanding.We ordered 6 dishes (two appetizers, 4 main) and dessert.Soh goh gi pyun chae and dak twi gim salad were the appetizers and the chicken salad (dtg salad) was something I have never had before. We ordered 6 dishes (two appetizers, 4 main) and dessert.

Soh goh gi pyun chae and dak twi gim salad were the appetizers and the chicken salad (dtg salad) was something I have never had before. It was with sweet sour sauce with some pepper on top but it wasn't spicy at all. The taste was very new and it was my favorite.

Then we ordered typical Korean dishes: fried chicken wings, sam gyup sal (grilled pork), kimchi pancake and yook hwe. I usually never eat yook hwe (marinated raw meat) but this dish completely changed my opinion. They must use really good meat to produce such a dish and will have this everytime I go.

The last dessert, the famous gae sung joo ak, is a must for all visitors. Not one of us said anything negative about the dessert as it was very flavourful with tuzu tasting and it was crispy. I would love to have tea with this dessert next time for sure.

Overall, as a Korean who lives in Hong Kong, it was a great experience and loved the different style of Korean food.

I went for dinner with my boyfriend during CNY and it was more than expected.Maybe it was because of CNY but the restaurant was somewhat quiet and private. We ordered four dishes between two people (jab chae, gimbab, kimchi stew and LA galbi) and it was more than enough for two people since we took jabchae home.

Jabchae was very warm and tasty when it got out compared to other Korean restaurants I have been to (Korean restaurants in TST serve jabchae but they are cold and look unattractive). Gimbab, the traditional Korean rolls, was very good but it was too much to be honest. It was in their roll section and I thought it was going to be just one roll but they have 8 big pieces which resembled tae-maki in Japanese food. kimchi stew was very traditional, went with rice well; my favorite was LA galbi (there are two but order the boneless one!!) - the meat was very juicy and well marinated.

They gave us free dessert which was frozen ice cream ball (two each) and they were great. They tasted like mango and strawberry and would definitely pay for a few of these.

Overall, the experience was very outstanding and waiters seem to know their menu so it was easy to order and eat. The lighting was a bit too dark for my taste but it is a great place to eat and drink at night time.

It is god to see a good Korean restaurant in HK FINALLY!

Went to Jang for Dinner with family based on various positive comments read in the reviews.

We ordered a mix selection of food to be able to see what Jang had to offer.

First came the usual side dishes: a bowl of green vegetable for 2 persons (2 pieces of carrots and cucumber, 4 leaves of salad), a bowl of Kimchi and some more greens. Little portion, limited assortment but more important maybe an extremely high level of salt in the Kimchi. Please we eat kimchi, not a pot of salt.

Then came the grill items
The pork belly on a plate, grilled in the kitchen, it could have been the best dish of the evening, if once again the cook would have not put so much salt.
The second grill dish was a BBQ bulgogi beef. That was really far far away from good Korean cooking. Over cooked, it seems pan fried and not grilled, with a poor texture of the meat and tasteless.

We had ordered also Chili Chicken. That it comes with a low level of chili, as we are in Hong Kong, is not the issue, but that the whole bowl contain a drumstick and the rest being made of carcass without meat is a concern based on the price paid.

We ended our experience with a bowl of spicy cold noodle, which were as in Korea, except again the amount of salt.

With Beer at 58 hk and soju at 138 hk, it seems quite a high price for drinks.

So overall, yes their is no BBQ smoke, but good BBQ restaurant, like in korea are equipped with wonderful extractors making sure their is no odor and the overall experience was far from being enjoy-full.

There are numerous restaurants in Central, but for some reason the choices for Korean food in the area are very limited (you will find many more Korean restaurants in, for example, Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui). Therefore, I was very glad when Jang, a new Korean restaurant in L Place, opened, as it meant that I could get my Korean fix during the week and wouldn't have to wait till the weekend!

Jang is the first Korean restaurant in Hong Kong that aims to serve high quality, modern Korean cuisine. The restaurant owners believe that Korean food in Hong Kong has become synonymous with Korean barbecue, and want to change our impression of Korean cuisine by offering fine Korean food, without the barbecue and the smell. The interior of Jang is simple but sophisticated, and even though I have not been to Jang for dinner yet, the lunch menu is extensive, with over 20 items to choose from. Set lunch ranges from $128 to $208 - prices are perhaps not as cheap as other Korean restaurants in town, but taking into account Jang's high quality ingredients, they are completely justified. There is also a Mad Monday discount, when you can get 1 set lunch free for every 3 set lunches you order.

We started off with some Korean side dishes, including kimchi and some marinated gourd and eggplants. I particularly adored the gourd, which has retained a nice crunch and was marinated in a slightly sweet sauce. The marinated eggplant was a tad oily, but it was tangy and delicious.

(1) Even though I wasn't too hungry at lunch, I decided to order the JANG Special Set A ($208), which comprised of a salad, braised short-ribs, a bowl of rice and a soup. I normally don't eat much salad in winter as they are not substantial enough to keep me full, but the Pan-fried Scallop, Prawn and Pear with Bean Paste Salad was surprisingly filling and satisfying. The prawns were semi-transparent and bouncy, and the scallops were tender and were definitely not overcooked. There was a perfect amount of salad leaves to go with the seafood and the whole dish was very balanced.

The sweet soy sauce in the Braised Short-Rib in Sweet Soy Sauce was sweet and alluring, and the short ribs were decadently tender and smooth. The thick metal bowl kept the food hot for a long time, and this dish was great to go with the rice. Besides the rice, each set lunch also came with a bowl of soup. The vegetable soup was light and healthy, with lots of chopped vegetables in it.

(2) The Sizzling Beef Stone Pot Rice ($148) is many people's favourite, and I could not leave Jang without trying out this classic dish! The stone pot rice was indeed "sizzling" in the stone bowl (which unfortunately fogged up my camera when I tried to take a photo!) The beef and the vegetables were fresh and gave a beautiful melange of colours, and the rice lining the bowl became crispy thanks to the high temperature of the pot.

(3) Next, we tried the Boneless BBQ Galbi ($148), which was pork marinated in a sweet, thick sauce. "Galbi" usually refers to grilled Korean dishes, and the pork in this dish was juicy and delicious! I happened to have eaten a piece of pork which had a lot of fat and not much meat in it, but in general I still considered the meats at Jang to be fresh and prime.

(4) The Korean bulgogi Hotpot ($148) followed, and this was yet another comforting winter dish. The vermicelli was springy and scrumptious, having soaked up the flavoursome soup in the bowl, and the meats, eggs and onions added a variety of tastes to this hotpot.

Having tried their beef and pork, it was time that we tried their chicken too. We ordered a portion of the Grilled Spicy Chicken ($148), and it was really tasty. The chicken had a gorgeous flavour and a firm, chewy texture. The sauce was spicy, but not so spicy that it would burn, and the hint of sweetness in the sauce made it really moreish.

Each of us got a Daily dessert for our set lunch, and it was a taro mochi ice cream. The sticky, glutinous mochi had a fragrant taro ice cream filling, and it was topped with some whipped cream and red beans. It was a lovely dessert to end an enjoyable meal.

The food at Jang was refined and delicious, and I support the fact that it doesn't offer Korean barbecue, as there are too many other Korean restaurants in Hong Kong that offer it anyway. However, one thing to note is that even though the restaurant technically should not smell of barbecue, as most of the food was served in metal bowls or on metal plates, I still came out of the restaurant smelling a tiny bit of barbecued meats (or maybe I was just being paranoid!) That said, when you think about the fantastic food that Jang has to offer, who cares about the smell?

A stellar restaurant! Everything about Jang is first class. I’m a big foodie and I’ve been to a lot of restaurants around the world, and I must say, this restaurant was one of my favorite. Given my personal preference for exploring new places, I usually stay away from visiting the same restaurant; however, the amazing food and atmosphere of the night brought me back to Jang twice in a span of a week.

The first time I visited was with a couple of my friends. Our party was hungry when we arrived at around 8PM, so we ordered a lot of food—or so we thought, until we finished every single dish down to the last bite. As a Korean, I found the quality of food to be something beyond my expectations. I would put Jang on par with the most popular top-class restaurants in Seoul. It’s pretty hard to go wrong with any of the choices on the menu, but here are my recommendations for first timers:

1) Chicken Salad with Spicy Sauce: Jang’s special sauce on a selection of fresh and healthy vegetables, topped with crispy chicken to entertain your taste buds. Ladies, this exquisite low-calorie salad is a must try for you.

2) LA Galbi and Bulgogi: following the recent gain in popularity for Korean BBQ around the world, many restaurants have started to cater roughly marinated meat that they call “Korean BBQ.” From my personal experience, only a few restaurants serve what local Koreans would agree as “real Korean BBQ.” Jang is an example of this rare exception. The meat here is excellent! Marinated and cooked to a tender and juicy perfection, the meat is served on a hot plate straight from the grill.

The second time I visited was with a client. We ordered a similar selection of dishes as last time and my client loved the food and the traditional Korean drinks. If you're here to dine, I recommend the traditional sweet rice wine, “makgulri," as it blends better with the restaurant's selection of entrees. However, if you're here mainly for drinks, I recommend other stronger drinks including soju (especially soju-bomb, a mix of soju and beer that we usually drink for parties).

The price range may seem to be on the slightly expensive side, but the food, service and the experience is definitely worth it.

Visit this hidden gem tonight! You won’t regret it.
