Gotta say Mango Tree fails to live up to its name, with a great decline in terms of overall food quality and service. Visited this restaurant last year and had a pretty decent meal admiring the captivating view, especially my mother is keen on Thai food so we decided to give it a second try. But I was left extremely disappointed and all the dishes were not worth it, to say the least. We ordered several dishes as shown below:1) The salad came in a small portion that looked nothing like in the men

We ordered several dishes as shown below:
1) The salad came in a small portion that looked nothing like in the menu. It tasted bland and the lettuce was not fresh. The ‘dressing’ wasn’t even present that failed to put together the favours of the shrimp and grapefruit, that made the whole dish taste relatively bland, very average considering the price.
2) The shrimp cake was the only consistently decent dish. Nothing to be complained about- rich flavours that complemented well with the sauce.
3) The satay came in varieties of chicken and beef. The texture was too tough along with the rough tendons inside, which refrained me from finishing the skewers at ease.
4) This glass noodle bowl was so average I had nothing in particular to comment on. There’s nothing ‘Thai’ about it, it’s like those you have at Yam Cha or even some HK fast food outlets, but overpriced.
5) MUST say the beef dish is Gotta say Mango Tree fails to live up to its name, with a great decline in terms of overall food quality and service.

5) MUST say the beef dish is absolute rubbish. The beef’s texture was WAY worse than the satay, too tough to either bite or swallow, while oozing a greasy bloody odour. It was so intolerable that we asked for a refund, in exchange for the chicken red curry. ( I am grateful I didn’t order rack of lamb ) The curry was again average with little chunks of chicken, suitable for those who cannot handle spices well.
6) The only dish worth trying is the coconut sago pudding. It is authentic that brings out the flavours of the banana leaf and coconut exterior, layered with the embedded sago and corn impeccably, that enhances the depth of favours. The mango sticky rice tasted alright, the coconut sauce was bland with a flakey consistency, and it would be better if the mangos were sliced to be shared more conveniently.
Final Verdict:
The food was underwhelming, some unacceptable, that the mesmerising night view couldn’t even compensate the entire poor dining experience. What’s more, the service was not attentive enough, with some of the servers acting confused and obtuse, such as serving drinks and tracking the orders. That’s why this disappointing decline of overall quality strikes me as a genuine shock, since I’ve never thought of recommending restaurants like Nara Thai cuisine or Nha Trang Vietnamese Cuisine over Mango Tree. Disappointed to a fault and I’m not even exaggerating, with the recent fellow food commentaries proving my point. Will never visit again.
