Had been to this restaurant 3 years ago and liked the food there a lot. So when came to the time to celebrate birthday with the December birthday star, immediately I though of this restaurant and recommended friends to go there for a birthday celebration!We arrived there at around 8pm and we didn't have to wait for the table (which was good as it's very difficult to find seats in the Tsimshatsui area restaurants for 4 persons without making any booking in advance these days).When we are all set
We arrived there at around 8pm and we didn't have to wait for the table (which was good as it's very difficult to find seats in the Tsimshatsui area restaurants for 4 persons without making any booking in advance these days).
When we are all settled in, we looked into the menu and found all the menu items (appetizer / salads / entree) all are very attractive. After some thoughts (and the restaurant manager - a lady wearing black suit gave us some advices), we have ordered the dinner set + 1 mushroom risotto + 2 lemonade (I couldn't remember the exact name of all the dishes)
After a while, the servers helped us with the olive oil & vineger and served a basket of bread + bread stick.
Bread + Bread stick : Very impressive, bread was served hot and feeling fresh.
After we finished with the bread, then they served us with the appetizer - crab cake with salad greens
Crab cake: Taste good and not oily even it's deep fried
The disappointment on the service of the restaurant started from this moment onwards. While we're chatting happily with the dish halfly finished there're still greens on the dish), the server came over and asked us if we'd finished the fish yet. We said no and continue eating and chatting. After a while the server came over again and asked my friends the same question (and my friends were apparently still enjoying the salad on the dish). We started to have the annoying feeling on their service...
So when we're really done with the crab cake dish, they served us with the mushroom soup.
Mushroom soup: Served hot and rich, mushroom lover would like it
Now it's the time for main dish, we chose Salmon & Prawn Pasta.
Salmon: A thick piece with lots of asparagus Great to come with the cream sauce.
Prawn Pasta: 2 Prawns were on the dish with tomoto sauce pasta which was great and not too filling.
Just when we'd finished the main dish, the servers came to our table and took our dish away immediately (I wondered if they're hurrying off their work?) We found this very irritating and wondered how would a nice restaurant be like that (but we're not eating in cha chan tang!!)
As we came here for December birthday star celebration, so we did asked the servers to help us to arrange to write Happy Birthday on the dessert dish. Yes they did that (nicely I'd to say) and the dessert platter was nice in general.
Dessert platter:
- Cinnammon ice-cream (cinammon lovers would love it)
- Chocolate molten cake (but the inside is not molten)
- Panna Cotta (very smooth with vanilla seeds!! highly recommended!)
- Napoleon (so-so but good to say as it remained to be crispy)
However, the worst service experience with this restaurant came.
When the dessert came and we're singing the birthday song for the Birthday star of the month, the servers came and interrupt our birthday song singing as they would like us to pay the bill first (as they're closing the restaurant's account for the day). WHAT KIND OF SERVICE WAS THIS? We totally understand that they'd to close their accounts of the day but we wouldn't take up more than 30 secs to have the birthday song finished!!) Anyway, we settled the bill with the birthday song interrupted and distracted .
What I can conclude from this visit is, the food of this restaurants remains to be nice and credits have to be given to the chef who prepares the dishes. However, the service standard is way too low to be accepted. I don't think I'll return to this restaurant or recommend to others when there is no improvement from the service stand point!
