Croissants. Always popular in Hong Kong. There are some places so popular, they have long queues of people waiting for it to come fresh out of the oven. One place is this: Big Grains. Price? $24. It wasn't as big as the other places that are also popular for this. But price range was more than Bakehouse and the same prices as Gotran Cherrier. I expected a lot. Perhaps I expected too much.
First off, when I pulled it apart, it was extremely chewy. The outer coating was extremely flakey. But the first thing I couldn't taste was butter. There didn't seem to be enough of it? Boyfriend couldn't taste it either. It seemed more like the flakey pastries sold at Chinese bakeries where butter isn't used much. Definitely over rated especially for the price they were charging.
