Came across this place on a rainy Saturday afternoon.  Rainy was an understatement - around Quarry Bay there was a full-fledged tropical storm, and if not for my umbrella that's big enough to house an entire family, I might never have left the MTR station.

I've read up briefly on this relatively new noodle shop; what caught my eye is its noodles: konjac noodles (蒟蒻麵).  It's supposed to be some low-calorie, high-fibre alternative to the conventional fare, so I guess it'd be a hit with the ladies.  I'm in no hurry to lose weight, but I hardly ever say no to trying something interesting.

Having arrived at 3PM (or maybe 3:30, even), I sat down and quickly took to studying the menus.  Choices aren't lacking for a restaurant this size, but at the end I settled on the afternoon-tea noodle set, which looked like this:

The presentation wasn't going to blow anyone's mind: konjac noodles in a very light soup topped with a thin slice of pork chop, a couple of fish cake (ends, yay), shredded carrots and cabbage, and a spoonful of corn.  The flavours are fairly standard, and everything was, I think intentionally, on the light side.  Nothing outstanding here, but nothing offputting, either.

The interesting bit was, unsurprisingly, the texture of the konjac noodles.  They were "bouncy" - no doubt owing to the gelatinous quality of konjac corms.  I could probably have left the noodles in the bowl for another half hour and they wouldn't have gone soggy.  Nothing something I would do; just saying.

All and all, for $28, this bowl of noodles in hot soup hit the spot on this said rainy afternoon.  Earthshaking?  No.  I wouldn't mind paying a return visit if I happen to be strolling around QB again, though.
