When I mentioned that I wanted to visit Mui Wo, I was told (repeatedly) to pay a visit to China Bear, which has the best waterfront view and fish & chips in town. So I did one fine sunny Saturday, celebrating the best of summer in Hong Kong and to get away from the hustle and bustle of HK Island where I stay.So we ordered a couple of stuff to try:Fish n ChipsSmothered in beer batter, on a bed of salad with chips on the side. Not exactly spectacular, but good enough for a late lunch on an island.
So we ordered a couple of stuff to try:
Fish n Chips
Smothered in beer batter, on a bed of salad with chips on the side. Not exactly spectacular, but good enough for a late lunch on an island. It's crispy and fresh; what else could I ask for?
Ruby with Spicy Lamb
Not sure why it is called Ruby; but it is actually a serving of what Ruby has (lamb, beef or chicken), on a side of rice of chips. The spicy lamb we ordered, which essentially curry mutton, was delicious if a tad too spicy for me (even though it must be said that my tolerance to spiciness is way too low for a Malaysian)
Apple Crumble with Ice Cream
Wanting to round off the meal with something sweet, we opted for this dessert. The apple crumble wasn't as crunchy as it should be though sweet enough, and it was so piping hot that the ice cream melted way too fast for us to enjoy the whole thing at our own pace.
We also had two pints of Tiger draught beer. It gets warm too fast. Suggest to use chilled glasses instead.
All in all, a good experience. The wait staff were friendly (despite what I have read elsewhere on the Internet).
