I always pass by Nglausao Izakaya but never have a chance to try. I was craving some japanese skewers today so we decided to come here for dinner. Located around the corner, the restaurant has 2 floors. Ground floor was fully seated so we were assigned to a table upstairs. The place is spacious with japanese-styled interior. We ordered fried squid lips, cod roe tamagoyaki, salmon, maguro tuna and octupus sashimi. We ordered fried squid lips, cod roe tamagoyaki, salmon, maguro tuna and octupus sashimi. For skewers, we ordered japanese sausage, pork rolls with asparagus, tsukune, chicken wings and coriander beef roll.
Fried squid lips came with mayonnaise on side. It was crispy outside and chewy inside. Seasoning was just right, not too salty. Eating it alone was already good enough, dipping with mayonnaise was a bit too heavy to eat. I'm not a egg lover, but still I tried a piece of the tamagoyaki. Egg was on a sweet side while cod roe inside was savory, together they gave a distinctive umami taste! For the sashimi, they were all thick-cut and fresh, no fishy taste at all, good job!
For the skewers, they all came in a same plate. I don't eat coriander so just skipped the coriander beef roll. Japanese sausage had mild, meaty smell with aroma of herbs and pepper. It was firm in texture with a crisp and crunchy skin, yum! Pork rolls
with asparagus gave me a wow, the juice splashed out when I bit into it, very juicy but a bit oily. Chicken wings skewer had nothing special, just seasoned with salt, meat was tender and skin was slightly burnt. Lastly, tsukune was moist, soft and juicy. Minced chicken with right amount of fat was covered in sweet soy sauce and grilled perfectly. Dipping it with egg yolk gave a smoother texture to eat, very scrumptious. I'd say it was the best skewer of tonight!
