Went on a week night to check out this place, which is close by our neighborhood. It opened a few months ago in the place of the popular "A Bar" which was a great place to have a drink or two and listen to a Filipino cover band. Food was a mixed bag. The best thing we had was the Hainan chicken rice, which was authentically done (Singapore-style) and full of flavor. The other dishes were decidedly bland. Vegetables were greasy. Char Kway Teo had no flavor at all.....a big bowl of starch.
Prices are quite high for a place in a residential neighborhood (not a tourist district)! Most HKers would think poor value for money and I can't imagine too many mainland hotel guests (the presumed market for the "upgrade" from bar to restaurant) would be eating there either. I think the hotel management will soon conclude they should have left the A Bar in place.....
