I'd like to say that I've had my share of disappointments at Ruby Tuesday. It's funny how under certain circumstances I end up going back. This time, however, it wasn't too bad. Some of the dishes we ordered were actually good. The Mac'n Cheese was ok, but I'm generally not a fan of this particular dish. The Mac'n Cheese was ok, but I'm generally not a fan of this particular dish. Other side dishes we had were Onion Rings, Steamed Mussels and Chicken Wings. Onion rings, I find are usually dry. The black baby mussels on the other hand were moist. The dish had a rich flavour of white wine, garlic, onion and cream - not bad. As for the wings, they were tender. If they could be juicier, they would have been great.
The dish I liked best was Parmesan Shrimp Pasta with seasoned big shrimps on top. The pasta was nicely flavoured and creamy. It was just a little heavy if one were to finish the whole thing alone. Other main dishes on the table included Shellfish Trio, Honey Barbecue Ribs and Grilled Lamb Chops. The trio consisted of a tasty crab cake, a lobster tail and a grilled shrimp accompanied by brown rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables. As expected the rice was dry and hard. I was rather disappointed with the ribs. I found them too "fragile". I don't like how the meat just fell off the bone so easily. It kind of takes out the fun of eating ribs without a little struggle. Now, the lamb chops were overcooked and dry, not something I'd recommend. After so much food, you'd think we had enough. No... we had to have one dessert; at least. The Chocolate Tallcake was huge. It looked delicious with the chocolate crumble and sauce at the top. Ice cream and chocolate cake: irresistible if only I wasn't so full. Ok, I've had a slight change of view on RT. The food can be good at times. The service, however, is still average. Our waiter was 'strange'. It's hard to categorize him really. I can't say he's impolite because he smiled each time we needed him. But it was a smirky smile, the kind that was hypocritical. And the way he spoke to us was over-exaggerated. It didn't feel right at all.
