A new coffee shop opened in Causeway Bay near Times Square called East Latte. I decided to give it a try after work. As it wasn't very busy, I easily found a seat. The place was spacious with plenty of seats. The barista area is on one side. They also have a few seats facing outside if you want to sit there.Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge and you pay and order at the cashier. Half the menu is variations of latte. I guess that's why they call themselves East Latte? As

As it was a latte focused place, I ordered a French Roast Latte ($42). Though the cup was big, it was only filled half way. Why order large cups when you are only providing half the cup portion? Another thing was half of it was thick foam. There was way too much milk to espresso. The temperature was fine but the coffee had way too much milk.
I also had a cake. Originally wanted lemon tart but that was sold out. So, I ordered a Green Tea and Red Bean Pound Cake ($25). This was not even a good cake. It was much too sweet with no taste of matcha. The texture felt strange. Like they coated it with syrup? I have no idea. It just was not the usual moistness I get from a pound cake. The red beans were not evenly distributed and all sunk to the bottom. I guess they didn't know about the cake hack to evenly distribute berries.
The food wasn't very good. Coffee was average at best. I also did not understand why everything was served on disposable paper plates, cups and eating utensils when I was dining in and not here for take away. So, all this was tossed away. A waste of everything in my opinion. Won't be back.
