So, one wonders ... since moving to a food court, would it taste the same? I was about to find out.
They have sets and a la carte. Menu is in English and Chinese. And as it's a food court, there is no 10% service charge. You can add money for a drink but it's not served here but at another stand.
I ordered something off the daily special. A sliced beef and brisket rice noodles in beef broth ($54). It also came with some vegetables. The broth was delicious. It had a strong beef flavor. Portion size was very small. There wasn't a lot of noodle but at least it was not overcooked. the beef was tender and literally melted in my mouth. The brisket was tender as well. This was excellent!
It also came with spring rolls. These were really good. Not oily at all. The filling was nicely seasoned and the wrapping was super crispy.
Boyfriend ordered off the lunch set menu and this is a lemongrass pork chop rice with coconut sauce ($42). The pork chop was moist and tender. But it was the coconut sauce that stole the show. It was rich with coconut. So sweet and creamy. One of the best coconut sauces I've ever had!
The food was excellent and it seemed they kept their standards since moving from their original location. Portions are a bit small but prices aren't expensive. The only thing I want to note is something that happened when we were ordering.
When boyfriend and I arrived after 2:30, we asked if they offered tea sets as every other place had the tea set menu posted and they had a lunch menu out. The staff told me that tea sets start at 3 PM. So, we ordered a lunch set and something from the all day menu.
After we paid and sat down, they then whipped out the tea set menu which states it starts at 2:30. Which you see before you.
But you see from my receipt that I paid after 2:30. Why would the staff misinform me by stating it starts at 3 PM, take my money and then change the menu that states it starts at 2:30? That didn't go down well for me and so I'm writing it here.
Other than that, I would probably return. Just make sure the menu is clearly changed before ordering.
