A friend and I met up for a dinner get together where she chose a place called Warren. Located in Tai Hang, I have seen it but haven't actually given it a try. Thus, when I entered the restaurant, I was surprised it was so small! There weren't that many tables and majority of the place was taken over by a big bar table.Menu is in English and Chinese. They have a small a la carte menu along with two types of dinner sets. We decided to just order a la carte because we felt the set offered way too

Pan Seared Hoikkaido Scallop with Caviar and Redcurrent Jelly ($158). I had this as my starter. It was beautifully presented with dobs of mayonnaise on the side and oddly some pink sugar powder. The scallop was perfectly cooked.
Underneath the scallop was a rectangle of red current jelly that oddly reminded me of Ribena. It was an interesting mix of sweet and sour against the saltiness of the scallop.
Crab Meat and Mango Salad ($168). My friend ordered this. The crab meat was laid on a deep fried nest of vermicelli. It slightly reminded us of the old fashioned Chinese banquet meals we had in Chinatown while growing up. The mango was bit sour but over all was quite good. The crab was nicely seasoned.
Roasted New Zealand Lamb Rack with Pommery Gravy ($398). I decided on the lamb rack as my main as I love lamb. Beautiful presentation. The lamb was a bit on of the over cooked for me. I like my lamb more on the medium rare side so this was fully cooked. Seasoning was done well. Though the vegetables were not seasoned. The gravy was rich and savory. It came with scalloped potatoes that were rich and creamy.
Pan Seared US Striploin with Red Wine Gravy ($388). My friend had this and gave me bit to try. The steak was also a bit over cooked. We both prefer it more on the medium rare. This was a bit more on the well done. But at least itwas still moist and tender. The gravy here was fantastic. Definitely taste the jus from the meat drippings here. It also came with scalloped potatoes and vegetables.
The food was fine. Beautiful presentation. We noticed all the dishes used the same pink sugar powder. That was bit confusing. But other than that, the food tasted good and the place was quiet. Perfect for an evening to chat.
