This 101 marinated pork branch is a newly opened restaurant in Tin Hau, which is just a few seconds walk from MTR exit. This 101 marinated pork branch is a newly opened restaurant in Tin Hau, which is just a few seconds walk from MTR exit. The restaurant is clean and a lot more spacious than I expected by just looking at the door.
The lunch set is pretty straightforward with a main, a side dish and a drink. Some special housemade chili sauce is also provided on the side for you to mix into the rice.
Marinated Egg ($5)Since I am a big fan of egg, I have added $5 to enjoy an extra egg without knowing that the rice set actually comes with a halved egg already! The egg was soaked in some dark brown thick slippery sauce. I thought it was the same as the marinated pork sauce but I found that sauce was much lighter in taste.
Deep fried chicken wing and fried squid cake
The set comes with a selection of side dishes for you to choose. As a greedy person, I have picked the one that comes with two different kind of small bites. The chicken wing was deep fried with a flavoiruful Taiwanese style batter, and the meat remained juicy and moist inside. Meanwhile, the squid cake was still very hot when it was served. I liked that they have used a piece of parchment paper at the bottom to absorb the oil from these deep fried goodness.
Bubble latteThis big cup of latte was surprisingly tasty with a good Western style kind of coffee taste. I have asked for a less sweetened version and they have got what I wanted. There were also a generous amount of bubble at the bottom. The bubbles were quite soft in texture instead of chewy.
Marinated minced pork with spicy Sam Bui chicken ($62)
The rice plate comes with a mountain of steamed rice topped with a lot of thick minced park being marinated with savoury sauce.
The savoury flavourful sauce has a very good ratio between meat and fat, making it a scrumptious meaty lunch to enjoy during a busy working day. The chicken pieces were nicely marinated and I could tell that they deboned the chicken pieces are prepared with love since each piece is quite irregular. I also liked that the set comes with a little bit of veggie in the middle!
Overall, it was a super filling lunch set with a lot of rice, meat, small side dishes, and a gigantic glass of drink. It was quite valueable since it only costs a whooping anti-inflation $67 for this amount of food!
