Shaved Ice Making a Come Back as a Trendy Dessert

I saw an article from a magazine's website that Nun Korean Dessert would be introducing a new summer menu on June 1st.  They had a lychee drink that I was interested in, so I dragged godbro XO along to check out Nun!The decor of the dessert place was pretty simple with photos of their desserts framed on the walls and plain wood tables and chairs.  The decor was quite relaxing since they didn't overwhelm us by filling their walls with photo after photo of their products like some dessert places.A

 After looking at the menu, I saw that they also offered some savory items.  I was hoping to order the fried hotdog that looked like a corn dog, but they were cleaning the fryer that day, so I'd have to come back for that.  Instead, I ordered the Baked Cheese Rice Cake.  They gave us a buzzer for when the order was ready, but since the shop wasn't busy when our order was ready, they delivered our items to our table.

 Baked Cheese Rice Cake: The rice cake pieces were covered in hot sauce then smothered in baked cheese!  There was a good amount of cheese to balance out the heat factor of the hot sauce.  The hot sauce was sweet and tangy, but just a tad too spicy for me!  The rice cakes were nice and chewy, and even though the hot sauce was too spicy for me I couldn't help eating the rice cakes one after another!

 Lychee smoothie with vanilla ice-cream: The drink composed of a refreshing lychee soda, 2 shark gummies, some coconut gel pieces, and vanilla ice-cream on top.  The lychee soda worked with the ice-cream to create a float.  The fruitiness of the lychee mtached perfectly with the vanilla ice-cream, so it was refreshing and creamy at the same time.  The coconut gel gave it a nice chewy texture.

 The shark gummies were mostly for visual effects, and they made the vanilla ice-cream look like a deserted (desserted 
) island in the middle of the sea.  This drink definitely works in luring likes on social media!

 Honeydew Melon Sherbet: The honeydew melon pieces in this dessert definitely lived up to its name!  The melon pieces were perfectly sweet and had a soft texture that wasn't overly mushy!  The shaved ice portion of the dessert had a nice strong milky flavor, but the texture was a little grainier than another shaved ice I had before.

 I can definitely understand the hype of shaved ice making a come back as the new trendy dessert!  The new options have more flavors and combinations!  I will probably come back to Nun Korean Dessert on another hot summer day, and hopefully, I can try the fried hotdog next time as well!
