Last night I had an exceptional dining experience in Causeway Bay. Having tried dim sum for so long in Chinese restaurants, I decided to try something new this time in a restaurant with an eye-catching name --- Tyfun Dim Sum. I guess “Tyfun” means “having fun in the centre of typhoon”…and the decoration style there definitely won’t disappoint you. Blue and black are the main tune of the dining room, with “clouds” and “thunder” surrounding you.

Sitting still in a big table, the waiter and waitress there were exceptional nice. They smiled and gave helpful description on the special dishes in the menu, and they even helped me change the tea when it got cool! I noticed there was a bar….I think that’s the first time I had dim sum along with wine instead of Chinese tea.

I definitely recommend you to try their signature cocktails….I picked the rose martini, which matched with the pattern of my table a lot! And the cocktail really helped raising the taste of the dim sum to a fresh level. The dim sum there will surely surprise you a lot in terms of their taste and look. I picked the goldfish dumplings and the steamed lava buns….the dumplings have a springy texture and the buns really make a blow in your mouth with a smooth and creamy lava. The pineapple buns there are not the normal ones….you can find barbecued pork and real pineapple in the buns!

For the main dish, I tried two dishes with completely different styles….the fish fillets in chili oil can satisfy the lovers of spicyness while the curry rice with Iberico pork will make you redefine curry and pork! The fish fillets had a fresh texture and they really matched with the Sichuan-style chili oil. There were noodles made of sweet potato flour at the bottom of the soup, which tasted firm and chewy. For the Iberico pork….the fattiness was just right and it definitely has a chemical reaction with the tailor-made curry, which is not too sweet but has a pure and original Indian flavor.

Finally I made a try of the mango mochi in the desserts menu. The mango and the creamy sauce in the soft mochi really gave me a calm and harmonious moment in the storms after a day of busy work. Overall yes, I would give a 5 star to this restaurant and I would definite visit it again when I desire a shelter in the busy and crowded Causeway Bay. Thank you for reading!
