Decided to eat at the Peak Lookout today after walking up the peak. What a terrible decision! After we sat down on the back patio at 11:30am (and the waitress asked if they could have the table back by 12:40 even though the outside was practically empty, by the way), we realized they stopped serving brunch at 11am. Hello! It's Sunday Peak Outlook - get with the program - people want to eat brunch. My boyfriend had already looked at the menu and decided he wanted the bbq, so I resigned myself to ordering lunch. I settled on a warm goat's cheese salad which was supposed to be served with greens, goats cheese, walnuts, apples and a walnut oil salad. I asked the waiter if I could add grilled chicken for an extra cost. He flat out said "no" without bothering to check with anyone. I asked him why (since there are options to add meat to other salads on the menu) and he looked confused. I asked him to check with the chef and he came back a few minutes later, again saying "no" and that he checked with the chef. He then went and got the manager who agreed to add chicken to the salad for an extra $35!! (which is ridiculou as the other salad on the menu allowed you to add chicken for only $10). Anyway, I agreed and we then proceed to wait for 10 minutes to get our drinks (a gunner, a tomato juice & a coffee). A plain coffee was $46 and my tomato juice (out of a can) was $52, which is completely outrageous. With the extra chicken added, my salad was almost $200 which was a complete rip-off for what arrived on my plate. A wimpy salad of rocket that was ABSOLUTELY COATED with a salad cream/mayonnaise dressing (which was not stated on the menu and I was so grossed out by that I almost sent the salad back); a few wimpy cuts of green apple that you could barely taste, a tiny spponful of crushed walnuts that were so few I couldn't even find them at first; a DEEP-FRIED block of goat's cheese (disgusting - also did not say deep-fried on the menu); and meager, tasteless slices of chicken scattered around the plate. All in all, a massive disappointment and I almost stopped the waitress to say that it was the wrong order because it looked so different from what was described on the menu. However, I didn't want to complain anymore as I didn't want the wait staff to do anything to my food, so I begrudgingly ate what I could stomach and left the rest. My boyfriend's bbq ribs were mediocre and we ended up spending $700 on a less than satisfying meal. I will never eat at Peak Lookout again. My boyfriend tried to tell me that we are paying for the ambience - nice views, relaxing atmosphere - but I couldn't even enjoy that because the service was so lackluster and the food just awful. This is an over-priced tourist trap with terrible food and I do not recommend it to anyone.
