On a number of topics, I am militantly pro-choice. Abortion is one. Burgers are another. There is no reason I shouldn't have what I want on my burger, and not have what I don't want on it. A burger menu should have one item: burger. Then there should be a list of what you can add to it. By no means should a burger menu be a catalogue of abominations the chef has fever-dreamed into reality. It's patronizing. It's narcissistic. It's what The Lot does.Take a look at this. Pineapples? Take a look at this. Pineapples? Bananas? Guacamole, chili con carne, sour cream, AND mayo all on the same burger?? Has the chef ever eaten any of these foods?

I decided to ask for a special request: cheese, jalapenos, and NO mayo. The server needed to go ask someone if that could be done. You have the ingredients! Of course it can be done. But of course, I see, they needed to see if it could be done in a way that maximally inflated the price.

How much do you think a jalapeno cheeseburger costs? Well, the Number 1 has cheese, and it costs $118, so add jalapenos... $128?

Nope. Here's The Lot's math: you can't add jalapenos, you can only add cheese. Where that rule is stated, I don't know. Cheese is $25. So you have to buy the burger that has jalapenos on it (the Number 4, at $125), decline all the chili con guac mayo, add cheese at $25, and voila a $150 jalapeno cheeseburger.

That puts adding jalapenos to a cheeseburger at $32 or 27% of the price of a cheeseburger.

Well, ask and ye shall receive. As you can see, there are six jalapenos on the burger, so a little over $5 each.

To be fair (note that I am unilaterally being fair here), the burger is pretty good. It's a big patty, nice and beefy, not overly seasoned, cooked precisely medium, with plenty of lettuce and tomato. The bun I could've lived without as it had this hard seedy covering that didn't really improve the experience. I'd rate it at about an 8/10. It's no Butcher's Club, but it beats GBU and the other burger chains around here.

The batter on the onion rings is great, but the onions slices themselves were so insignificant that most of it is just batter. I understand that some people like that, but I like more of a balance. Good though, B-

Between the narcissism and the avarice, there are good burgers at this place. But make sure you keep your hand on your wallet while you're waiting for your banana and bleu cheese 100% Wagyu demon spawn on a brioche bun burger.
題外話/補充資料: On the lunch menu, there's only one burger, and it's got coleslaw AND mayo on it.
