I wanted to take my friend to the original On Lee but discovered that it was closed for renovation so we went to this branch across the street instead. We had to sit near the door which was really hot as the heat from the door kept blowing at our backs. On Lee is famous for fish balls and beef brisket so we each ordered a bowl of noodles to try as well as other snacks. We ordered some crispy fish skin where you are supposed to dip briefly in broth before eating. The fish skin was too hard though
We ordered some crispy fish skin where you are supposed to dip briefly in broth before eating. The fish skin was too hard though so it was tough to eat. My fish ball and beef brisket & tendon rice noodle was average as well. The fish ball was kind of fishy while I've had better beef brisket elsewhere. I've never been impressed with the beef brisket here anyways since I think Sister Wah and Kau Kee have much better brisket. The other famous snack is the thick butter toast but it came too early while I was eating my noodle so by the time I got to it, the toast was stale and the butter was melting. Freshly made, this would have been a tasty (yet unhealthy) snack!
