I seldom had Chiu Chow Cuisine. This time my lunch partner brought me to this 陳儀興尚潮樓 to open my eyes! My lunch partner was quite a big fan of Chiu Chow Cuisine so I had been super looking forward to this lunch date.This restaurant had quite an eye-catching Chinese-style front door on the ground floor. There were two storeys and there was a lift to take us up to the second floor. From details like even the tableware, you could tell that this restaurant did try to offer more than just the quality

From details like even the tableware, you could tell that this restaurant did try to offer more than just the quality of their food. Tea was 普洱 which smelt pretty good.

I let my lunch partner order. She ordered two cold seafood dishes, one marinated dish and one steamed fish to share.

生醃瀨尿蝦 (Half portion) $144

There were three pieces of  瀨尿蝦,  each cut into four pieces. The 瀨尿蝦 were quite fresh. But the shells were not removed and you had to chew the shells to squeeze out the flesh. Yet, it was not hard to chew. The flesh was super juicy and smooth. It tasted very fresh indeed. The sauce was very rich in sesame oil and smelt pretty good.

We actually counted and there were 13 clams. They were pretty fresh and smelt very rich of sesame oil. The sauce seemed to be same as that for 瀨尿蝦.

The original 鵝三寶 set-up was 鵝肉, 鵝肝 and 鵝腸. As I didn’t want to eat 鵝腸, we asked for 鵝腎. So flexible. Portion was quite big. There were quite a lot of 鵝腎. They were pretty good to chew and well marinated. Pretty high quality. There were four slices of 鵝肝. When it came to 鵝肝, I usually ate it the French style, i.e. pan fried. But they were pretty good in Chiu Chow style. They were not greasy at all and were pretty fresh and reasonably dense. There were six slices of 鵝肉 and they were very good! They were not overly fatty. They were well marinated and the flesh was dense yet tender enough to eat. The 鵝三寶 went very great with the vinegar served on the side. Underneath the 鵝三寶, there were three slices of tofu, one deep fried and two just marinated. There were also some fresh bean sprouts underneath. We were so full after finishing this dish.

It was a whole 黃花魚 which was very smooth and tender. Look at the flesh which was so transparent! The 豆醬 was very healthy as it was just slightly salty and just enough to add some flavour to the fish. A very healthy dish. We basically finished everything including the flesh near the bones, belly etc.

絲苗白飯&潮州白粥 $10 each 

The plain rice was pretty soft with distinct rice grains. The congee was typical Chiu Chow style with long-boiled rice grain in rice water. 

We also tried some 潮汕飲品 which was 老藥桔.

老藥桔 $20 each

Although I seldom drank 涼茶, this 老藥桔 was quite yummy and not overly sweet. It was served warm and great for Autumn.





Overall, I was quite satisfied with the quality of the food. Service was very good as they changed our plates basically every time after we had finished a dish. Our tea cups were also refilled at appropriate times. Interior renovations seemed pretty nice although we didn't manage to get those best seats so that no photos could be shared. It was a nice experience of Chiu Chow Cuisine.
