I had the chance to check out Vive Cake Boutique at Lee Tung Avenue during its opening months but wasn't overly impressed with what I have got then.  This was very refreshing. The green apple compote provided nice acidity to the mix and I love the contrasting texture between the green apple mousse, green apple compote, earl grey sponge and almond biscuit. What a lovely piece of cake!

 Summer Flourish ($45) - Sitting on top was lychee jelly with a bit of edible flowers providing lovely fragrance over a layer of white peach mousse.

 And that's not all. I haven't even touched on the stuff in the middle including the layered vanilla sponge cake, white peach cubes and almond biscuit. A very busy dessert with lots of ingredients in it. The rich white peach flavor was very impressive and they had the lychee there to back it up so it won't get too one-dimensional. Another pleasant surprise.

 Two out of two is definitely a result I didn't expect. Perhaps I should keep a much closer eye on this patisserie from now on.

    Godbro XO was making the dinner arrangements for his gourmand group for the night before Dragon Boat Festival.  That night just happens to be the birthday of one of the group members, so we decided to surprise her with a birthday cake.Godbro XO has been anticipating the opening of Vive Cake Boutique ever since he saw the boarded up store front back in April.  He even checked out the website and picked out the cake he wanted to order if the cake boutique opens before our dinner!Come the last week

    Godbro XO has been anticipating the opening of Vive Cake Boutique ever since he saw the boarded up store front back in April.  He even checked out the website and picked out the cake he wanted to order if the cake boutique opens before our dinner!

    Come the last week of May, and ta-da!  Vive Cake Boutique opened!  According to godbro XO, the decor of the shop is just as elegant as the cakes!  He made the cake order arrangements, paid for the cake, and picked up and brought the cake to the restaurant the night of our dinner!  

    After our dinner the night before Dragon Boat Festival, the cake was brought out!  The first thing we noticed was the silver candle taped to the box!

     Then, we opened the cake box, and everyone was "oo" and "ah"-ing commenting on how beautiful the cake looked!

     Summer Flourish (Layered Sponge Cake in White Peach Mousse & Lychee Jelly): The lychee jelly layer was very refreshing with the light lychee flavor that came through the clear jelly.  Unlike most mousse cakes on the market, this mousse cake had actual cake layers in it!  The sponge cake was very light just like the white peach mousse that's sandwiched between the cake layers!  Overall, the cake was very light and fruity, and it's perfect for the summer! 

    Thanks to godbro XO's meticulous arrangement, we were able to try Vive Cake Boutique's exquisite Summer Flourish cake as soon as the cake shop opened in Lee Tung Avenue!
