I've been to Assaggio's TST branch a while ago but as it was on a weekend the salad buffet was more limited, and it was more of a small antipasto buffet plus main course lunch set. This is my first visit to Assaggio at the Art Centre and I was happy enough with what I had. For lunch, you can choose to have a salad bar buffet ($148+10%) only, or otherwise add a main course (pasta, risotto, pan-seared fish) for around $88 all the way to the mid $100s. I've been to Assaggio's TST branch a while ago but as it was on a weekend the salad buffet was more limited, and it was more of a small antipasto buffet plus main course lunch set. This is my first visit to Assaggio at the Art Centre and I was happy enough with what I had. 

For lunch, you can choose to have a salad bar buffet ($148+10%) only, or otherwise add a main course (pasta, risotto, pan-seared fish) for around $88 all the way to the mid $100s. You could also add dessert for an extra charge. Coffee and tea is not included in the set.

I opted for the salad bar buffet only, and we were the first customers to arrive. The seats and tables are spacious and there's ample lighting in the entire dining room. Part of the seats would offer guests a peek of the action in the open kitchen. Waiting staff speak good English, but all but one were friendly and helpful. (The one waitress who didn't make us feel that welcome was slightly impatient when we requested to be moved to another table.) As we neared the end of our meal, the place was just over half full, so it does seem to be quite a busy place on a week day.

The salad bar has quite a lot to offer, for veggies, the selection ranges from romaine lettuce and argula all the way to grilled eggplant, bell pepper slices, carrots and cucumber. Cherry tomatoes were a fresh and juicy bright red and they also offer a slightly low-end version of my favorite caprese salad--though the mozzarella were slightly hard and not that fresh, it was good enough for me. The asaggio cheese was smooth (but not aged). There's also unlimited parmesan on offer if that's your thing. In terms of protein, they have some ham and salami and a chicken salad, but that's about it. They also have some bruschetta if you're still hungry after all the food.

Other Info. : 總括而言,雖然不是樣樣食物都是perfect, 但是因為那裡環境和service 都很好,食飯catch up 傾計一流! 所以都是一個滿意的dining experience. 那晚生日的是一個十分麻煩的朋友(haha) ,一晚裡投訴了幾次他們餐廳的射燈射住佢。 但那晚當值的manager 每次都很耐心的為她調教! 十分感激! p.s, 餐廳沒有做happy hour 的優惠,如果有,就更加好啊~~~

當日我們坐下後,侍者就慢慢逐盤食物遞過來,想要多少、特別指明那一款食材,都可以向他說明,一家人坐著吃就是,非常能夠感受意式悠閒風情。當日我們第一樣品嚐的,就是 Parma Ham and Melon,兩隻都很愛吃,特別為食妹妹吃完了自己一份,後來還搶去媽媽的火腿!小小人兒非常識食!

去到主菜環節,共有14款選擇,連小孩都可以選!因此這天我們一共吃了四款主菜,首先是 Linguine Pasta with Seafood,只計海鮮其實外邊的海鮮沙律更鮮嫩,不過麵條吸引了不同的海鮮的鮮味後,變得鮮香撲鼻、十分吸引~

來到甜品環節,每人可由 Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, Fruit Salad, Semifreddo, Ice-Cream 中選一樣,除水果沙律我們每樣點了一份:右上有A字的 Tiramisu 很好吃,我與老公將一大兜全部清光;右下的 Semifreddo 口感軟滑、甜度輕柔,也值得一試;左上 雪糕 有三款口味,我們選了榛子味十分幽香,配朱古力餅碎很美味;最後 Panna Cotta 也柔滑好吃,甜胃好滿足啊!

甜品後還有每位咖啡/茶,老公與我分別點了 Mocha 及 Caffe Latte;其實仍在咳嗽,但這裡的咖啡真的很香又柔滑吸引,兩杯都很美味,我要用最大的意志力去克制自己只飲半杯!

I last visited this Assaggio almost four years ago when it first opened and former Executive Chef Marco Furlan was still at the helm. Always love their risotto with saffron. In recent years, I have visited their Tsim Sha Tsui branch but eventually stopped going there after realizing that the food wasn't what it used to be (comparing to Wanchai branch).

The venue here has always been fabulous. An open pasta station, two separate dining rooms, a private room that comfortably seats up to 12 guests and an inviting outdoor terrace area overlooking the Victoria Harbour make up this big, swanky space on the 6th floor of the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Chef de Cuisine of Assaggio, Francesco Gava, is a native of Piedmont in northern Italy and is especially good with authentic Italian food such as fresh homemade pasta. With that reason alone, we had to try his spicy spinosini with garlic, cherry tomato and crab.

Spinosini, a spaghettini-type of thin pasta was tossed in a lightly spicy sauce with fresh crab meat and cherry tomatoes. Very nicely textured indeed but perhaps we took too much time taking photos and by the time we were done, most of the sauce was already absorbed.

It came as four pretty reasonably sized pieces of chicken. Very meaty and tender which was a little surprising to me. I like the mildly spicy seasoning and touch of lemongrass. This is perfect for sharing. Not bad.

My departing colleague picked the rum chocolate pudding with mixed berries. At first, I thought the chocolate flavors would be too rich but no, it was perfect. As a matter of fact, it felt like we were eating a chocolate flavored panna cotta but with a slightly firmer texture. And the rum was the key, giving it a very exciting kick.

經朋友介紹,今天午飯時間前來試食。午餐提供Executive Set Lunch 和 À la carte 。餐廳剛開業,落單出菜各方面仍有進步空間,如果是上班午飯時間有限,建議點菜先試 set lunch 會較好。個人心水是薄餅和意大利飯,還有各式意大利甜品。食物沒有加重味精,全靠食材天然味道和烹調方法,已很鮮味。值得一提是現場新鮮焗製的plain bread,每個小小的份量,因為太美味,不自覺已經吃了很多…如果可以外賣就好了。餐廳有海景,相信是晚飯一個不錯的選擇。

週末想找個舒服一點的地方跟朋友吃晚飯,選了Assaggio作飯腳點。訂檯的時侯店員說要分時段入座,分別是6:00pm至7:45pm,或者是8:00pm至關門,看過openrice見餐廳11:00pm關門,當然選後者的用餐時段吧,我們8:00pm準時到達,餐廳只有2檯食客,坐了一會,亦只有3-4檯食客。很離奇,我們以為須分時段用餐的餐廳定必門庭若市呢。餐牌一目了然,主要是意粉、意大利飯、pizza及一點肉類主菜,跟一般的意大利餐廳不遑多讓。上菜速度超級快,不消15分鐘就把所有菜式都上齊了。前菜選了Caprese,即是水牛芝士跟蕃茄,再加一點陳醋及香草汁。但這裡的mozarella cheese質感卻不對辦,失去了本身煙韌的感覺,只能吃到粉狀的、酸酸的,可能是放得太久,陳醋厚身的味道亦欠奉。其中一份主菜,簡單的Spaghetti with fresh tomatoes and parmesan cheese,份量小巧,蕃茄味道夠濃,但麵條煮得太稔,完全沒有了al dente的口感,即使醬汁煮得多好,麵本身已成敗筆,很可惜。Pizza D.O.G - 黑松露油只有輕輕數滴,令其黑松露香味迅即

, 不是什麼令人眼前一亮的精品但做甜品的師傅(估計應該是攞住甜品出入入嘅女仕)就是每樣甜品都做得出那質感, 特色! 而當日可能有客人生日, 要求店方做一個生日甜品, 師傅專登用咗現有的其中一款甜品放碟中間再用巧克力漿劃了些花之類的東東拿出去給經理, 但那個小肥經理則畫蛇添足地將各種不同嘅甜品放上碟度, 好好的一幅圖畫被破壞得庸俗不堪, 連那經理自已也邊放上邊奸笑, 想必他自已也知道正在從事破壞工作,
總括來說: 除咗甜品之外,其他的食物都很一般, 如果為龍蝦而來那未必是一個好的選擇,餐廳主打意式但就連披薩都不是太出色, 會再來的機會應該很少了!

第二會合的主食是意大利薄餅,主廚準備了一濃一淡的選擇,先說一下淡味的紅菊苣、烤火腿和軟奶酪芝士薄餅,食下去軟綿綿的芝士,配上火腿的鹹香,是非常易入口的配搭。而較「重口味」的選擇就是加了藍芝士的茄子薄餅,茄子發揮了一個非常平衡的作用,以它的清甜平衡了藍芝士的濃郁,讓眾人連聲讚好。
