What a great little find!
We found this place tucked away in the Wo Yi Hop Road cooked food market. Being from the UK, and having noticed their sign by the sidewalk, we had to investigate further - a potentially superb Indian restaurant right on our door step wouldn't get overlooked! Especially as we're some way off the beaten track when it comes to this type of food in this location and it isn't always ideal to have to travel into TST on a Friday night for a good curry.
Be bold and embrace the rustic, authenticity of the cooked food market, and you're treated to many other more local restaurants, sites and sounds. It's a really bustling and cool place to eat. But clean and tidy and since we've been going (it's that good, it's become a regular occurrence) we've never encountered any nasty surprises the next day!
Curry and Kebab Indian Restaurant is clean, tidy and unpretentious, we were quickly greeted by Kafle and his wife who run the restaurant, sat at a table, offered drinks and menu's. Quickly followed by some papadums. Which were accompanied by home made chutney - a spicy mint and mango, both very nice.
We we were made totally welcome and Kafle and his wife were super friendly!
The Indian food is very authentic Nepalese. Some dishes on the menu would be certainly familiar but others might not, but would definitely be worth exploring. The food is freshly prepared almost right in front of you and Kafle was kind enough to ask how hot we might like our main dishes and explain what the ingredients are.
We've had numerous starters, sides and main dishes here and all are packed with flavour and are clearly cooked with care and attention. Portion sizes are great - the vegeatable somosas a particular favourite and should be experienced!
Overall they offer excellent value for money. We always leave full and happy!
It's a lovely little restaurant with Kafle a really great chief who clearly takes a lot of pride in what he does.
If you're after a nice curry that's a little different and a good beer, we highly recommend a visit!
