我既興趣除左食其次就係發呆,找個環境寫意的地方給我腦袋一個優質小休一向喜歡Coffee Academics 的setting; 啡木色的裝潢但店內又不會太陰沉黑暗。這間店幾次經過都不太多人,門口有露天座位,但這裡沒什麼風景而且對住沙塵撲撲的車路,還是找個室內位置。裡面有吧枱,亦有供人用餐的high chair;點了一個Latte, 同cinnamon churros with coffee icecream我對cinnamon churros情有獨鍾,香脆可口而且帶有甜甜的肉桂香。雪糕軟滑配上espresso 的香濃苦澀,我都溶化了。雖然睇得出哪是炸而不是焗的但熱辣辣既還是很好吃的。不知不覺在這裡呆坐了一個小時;一杯咖啡一個點甜品不單只可以滿足口腹, 還可以放慢一下腦根,為自己叉一下電.

我對cinnamon churros情有獨鍾,香脆可口而且帶有甜甜的肉桂香。雪糕軟滑配上espresso 的香濃苦澀,我都溶化了。雖然睇得出哪是炸而不是焗的但熱辣辣既還是很好吃的。
不知不覺在這裡呆坐了一個小時;一杯咖啡一個點甜品不單只可以滿足口腹, 還可以放慢一下腦根,為自己叉一下電.

近兩年喝咖啡的次數多了, 一來喜歡到cafe用餐, 感覺特別舒適休閒, 二來咖啡的拉花總是令我心癢癢要點。不過對咖啡的認識還只是皮毛, 最常喝的是mocha, 喝latte是為了拉花公仔, 而新口味我也喜歡嚐試。今次我又到那兒品味咖啡?The Coffee Academics 很早前我曾光顧過銅鑼灣耀華街分店, 不論環境、食物、咖啡各方面也稱心滿意。而這新開的灣仔分店是早前在附近工作的朋友拍照給我, 我也覺得環境不錯, 於是趁一個星期六的下午跟他來吃個午餐。落地透明玻璃, 裡裡外外看得清楚。座位有室內及室外, 室外有木箱L型座位, 十分簡約, 老外們全在這兒, 而有橙色帳篷也不需擔心下雨的問題。一踏進餐廳, 環境相當雅致, 除了小圓檯外, 梗有一張長形大木檯, 適合一大班朋友。牆上不少別緻的裝飾一個沖咖啡的地方, 燈上掛著紙球帶點色彩元素。玻璃櫃展示出各款甜品, 不過未有一款能俘虜我的心。餐廳更是多元化, 除了食物外, 也有不少咖啡等用品售賣。我坐在較入的座位, 望上去有似鳥籠的裝飾, 下面是化學結構圖, 有趣有趣, 不過我是讀文科完全看不懂~前方對著就是沖咖啡、甜品的長檯, 檯上擺放

本來在menu看到是扭扭薯條, 朋友之前吃過也推介, 然而上檯變了普通薯條, 跟經理一問之下原來沒有扭扭薯條, 當時跟女服務生下單完全沒有提過, 有點失望。
不過薯條味道不俗, 有芫茜、紅色粉作調味, 感覺有點似麥當勞的shake shake薯條調味粉。而且另有3款沙律醬、芥末醬、黑椒茄汁點, 多款選擇, 而我最喜歡的白色沙律醬。

應是1月之選Mexican, 我不太留意辣椒chili 此字, 誤以為只是 cinnamon 肉桂。
第一眼望上去賣相不錯, 喝第一口感覺到朱古力latte味道不俗, 再辣椒粉與咖啡融合後, 嚐到刺激的辣味, 胃部也即時覺得熱, 這是我的第一餐, 空肚喝咖啡、辣椒粉這刺激的飲品, 我腸胃較差, 晚上胃痛。

這分店剛開張不久, 人手感覺上有點不足, 餐牌上的食物扭扭薯條、果汁也沒有, 選擇更是少之又少。
而每間分店menu感覺上有點不同, 如果我再去The Coffee Academics, 一定會選擇銅鑼灣耀華街分店, 食物質素較有保証。

This was rather sad to me as The Tea Academics was an interesting venture from The Coffee Academics. It had potential and I hoped they would branch out into this tea drinking concept. But I guess they decided to ditch it and it is now another Coffee Academic.

Anyways .... this branch of The Coffee Academics is located on Wan Chai Road. It has both indoor and outdoor seating.

Most notable equipment is this one : Steampunk. Previously, when this was The Tea Academics, they invested in Steampunk coffee equipment to make tea. This is not a cheap piece of equipment. Steampunk is developed by an American company called Alpha Dominche and is an automated way of siphon method of brewing coffee. By using steam, it creates one perfect cup of coffee. And no more. Or at least that's what it says on it's official website. This is not a cheap coffee machine. After The Tea Academics pithered away, this branch of The Coffee Academics decided to not waste that investment and provide the only branch to serve coffee with this method. So, if you are a coffee geek and curious, this is the only place in Hong Kong that I know of that uses this method of serving coffee.

Academics Breakfast ($118). As I had to eat lunch, I ordered this. This was dismal. The breakfast included a cumberland sausage, sunny side up egg, salad, bacon, toast with huge splatters of pesto and baked beans with pulled pork. It looked atrocious. The egg was alright as the yolk was nice and runny. The baked beans with pulled pork was an attempt to make canned beans fancy otherewise there was no point in added a few strands of pork in it. The bacon was chewy. The sausage was nice but then I like cumberland sausage. Actually, I like sausage. The salad was drenched in salad dressing, thus making it soggy. The toast had far too much pesto.

February's Monthly Single Origin: Ethiopia Yirgacheffe ($68). I chose the monthly single origin coffee and chose to have it Steampunked. It was served in a beaker where I could pour it in a shot glass. The coffee had a strong citrus flavor and didn't have a strong scent. I'm unsure if the Steampunk method made it this way or the beans itself were not strongly scented. I guess the only way to find out is if I went through the other methods with the same bean.

Food, like the other branches, weren't very good. Coffee, as always, is interesting and for a mainstream chain, it's always a nice choice. Coffee Academics always reminds me of Seattles Starbuck's Reserve shop. Where they try to serve more serious coffee to a mainstream audience. And this branch is a lot more quiet than the other ones. I would return.

Lacked refreshing lemon sensation.The items are simply over-priced. They sell the food at a price comparable to hotel, but with coffee chain store quality.
