Finally got a chance to try it, as it is one of the famous hidden bar coming from abroad.As my first time here, of course I would pick some signature drinks. The list of fancy cocktails caught my eye, but my friend opted for the more classic ones.My pick was the EO Gimlet, which is the perfect match of gin and lime. The right proportion makes the citrus taste complement the gin so well. The large ice cube also chill the drink without quick dilution. My friend ordered the Waterloo and it was a refreshing drink too. The watermelon took the lead and a bit of sour lemon juice and Campari made the drink so palatable! continue reading

Sometimes one just hopes to unwind and relax in a quiet bar with some bites and—ideally—a drink or two. If that is your wish, Emloyees Only may be an option to consider. With an inconspicuous entrance, the restaurant appears to be relatively new with only a handful of guests by the bar, but our server was keen and helpful and, having had the pleasure of meeting with the chef, we might add that he seemed pretty passionate about his job. That being said, the food menu was definitely too limited in choice, and we thought the food was only just alright overall. My personal guess as to why the space was so empty: while Employees Only was trying to be both a bar and a bistro/restaurant in Lan Kwai Fong, it hasn't yet developed an edge in either.Food RundownSteak TartareSteak tartare was very good, and the thin-cut, crunchy baguette slices made excellent accompaniment.SaladFresh, but small in portion. Pastrami SandwichReportedly made in-house, but we were disappointed. The meat doesn't bite away cleanly and flavor-wise we'd have liked something smokier. As the photo shows, this wasn't a very bulgy sandwich either.Lamb MeatballsThis was OK. With Chope buy-1-get-1-free deal, my cousin and I decided to try out Employees Only on a Saturday evening.It was relatively quiet when we arrived at 7pm. The restaurant and its bar did get busier and busier as the night unfolded.We ordered two mains to share. First one is this Sausage Platter, with Chef’s selection of pork, lamb and chicken sausages. I love sausages so much and this heavenly platter gave us a bit of everything! The sausages were all very decent. One of the sausages was filled with cheese (the short one on the right). I particularly love the spicy ones. My cousin is a pickle lover, and she found the cucumbers on the side really good.Second main we got is this Slow-Cooked Pork Ribs with pickled daikon. The ribs was rightly cooked with a strong BBQ flavour. Meat was tender and easy to cut out from the bone. To our surprise, there was quite a lot of meat! I tried one pickled daikon, and it was really good! No wonder my cousin spoke so highly of the pickled cucumber just now. We went on low carbs for this meal unintentionally, but the meat did stuff our tummies with great satisfaction. continue reading

I had to try EO after all the positive feedback from friends since it opened. This is the second restaurant, the first one is in Singapore. We started with some refreshing cocktails ranging around $120-150. We ordered the bone marrow, seared cod and the pot of mussel. The cod and bone marrow were fantastic but the mussel pot was a little lacking in flavour. Don’t go to the restaurant hungry because the portions are pretty small which was another thing I want to highlight. But overall I enjoyed the experience, staff were very attentive and knew very food and drinks menu very well. continue reading
