I was slightly disappointed that I could not order a small portion of fried chicken, which was what I saw on other reviews. It took me a long time for us to decide on what to order. Eventually we ordered fried Chicken (Original and Spicy) and a medium Army Stew.

Unfortuantely, the fried chicken was pretty average stuff. Having tried a number of fried chicken shops in Hong Kong such as LI KA (HOF), Mix & Rice, Fairyland and Mr. Korea Fried Chicken, I think LI KA (HOF) is still the best.

The meat was a bit tough and dry. The batter was fairly thick and the taste on the original chicken was bland. The spicy chicken was more sweet than spicy and was similarily dry.

Fortunately, the medium Army Stew saved the day:

It had kimchi, spam, sausagues, baked beans, sliced pork, cheese, vermicelli, leek and assorted vegetables.

The soup base, which is the most crucial part of the stew, was fairly thick, and seems to be either pork/beef stock. It was lightly spiced and greatly increased my appetite. If my memory serves me right, the soup seems to be even slightly better than SUE. (But it was ages ago since I went to SUE.)

The two of us finished the Army Stew in no time. Usually an instant noodle is provided but not this time. I wonder whether the restaurant had forgotten about it. It's provided in SUE.

This is one of the better army stews that I've had. But for the Army Stew, I would have given this place an "OK" for the average chicken, limited food selection and cramped seating. But this Army Stew brought it back to a smiling face.

Worth a try if you like Army Stew.
