I've been here even before they've changed their name, which was a long, long time ago. They used to serve Thai food only, then they started serving Japanese food, and now even with some Sichuan dishes and hotpots. When I was invited to this tasting, I had mixed feelings - I just had lunch there the day before.

On this occasion, 20 odd bloggers attended. In order not to bore you with the same dishes over and over again, I'll just focus on a few items which I particularly liked.

Decor:

It's located in the midst of Hong Kong park, surrounded by trees, waterfalls and a lovely pond with carps and turtles.

It had both an indoor and a pretty spacious al fresco area.

These were what we had:

Pomelo salad : I think they might have changed the recipe a little. It used to be quite sour. Now I believed they've added coconut syrup and perhaps a bit of anchovy sauce. The result was good. Sweet& sour.

L16 platter: With grilled pork neck, spring rolls and shrimp cakes.  The shrimp cakes in particular were well done.

Lamb chops: Way better than Nahms. Aromatic and juicy. Top marks. Definitely something I'd order on my next visit. Recommended.

Green curry with chicken:
Pretty mild with a creamy flavour. Not that spicy. Good with rice.

Crabs: Fried with peppercorn and garlic (similar to a typhoon shelter style). Flavourful. Not bad at all.

Sichuan style fish in chili sauce  For a restaurant which only recently started serving Sichuan dishes, the quality was not bad at all. Not as spicy as some Sichuan restaurant but the chili could still pack a punch.

Desserts: Excellent as always. I particularily liked the sticky coconut cake. I always order this whenever I have lunch here. We also had a very interesting dessert literally translated as "pumpkin egg". I guess they must have dug out a pumpkin and then poured sweet egg mixture into it before steaming the whole thing. Very interesting.

I heard from our lovely organizers that L16 will provide Sichuan hotpots as well. Judging from the quality of the only Sichuan dish I had here, I'd say it should be something to look forward to.

Worth a try if you're in Admiralty.
