After having afternoon tea in Azabusabo, my husband and I walked along the Granville Road for 大閘蟹 shop. My colleague recommended 江記 because of their high turnover of inventory. When we arrived the shop, we were surprised by the size of the shop. That may be the one of the largest local crab shop. The service was excellent. When we arrived the shop, we were surprised by the size of the shop. That may be the one of the largest local crab shop. The service was excellent. Since my younger son has skin allegry on shell and seafoods, we grabbed three male 大閘蟹. Since my husband pretty like 大閘蟹, his crab is the largest (from the "HK$400 category"). Another two crabs were came from the "HK$300 category". Those two medium crabs costed HK$210 and the large crab costed HK$200.
Finally, a total of HK$410 for 3 大閘蟹. Lovely, much inexpensive and very affortable for a family.
The staff was so nice and gave us a frozen bottle of water to keep our crab cool in the paper bag.
We left the shop at 5:45pm and arrived home by taxi at 6pm. I immediately put those 3 crabs in the ice box. At 9pm, I put them out from the ice box and all three of them looked vivid and VERY ACTIVE & SMART. As suggested by the staff, I steamed the medium two for 16 minutes and the largest for 18 minutes. Oh! It was perfect!
Althoug the crab cover is relatively small, all the legs had many many crab meat. It is highly recommended you all to buy those over HK$100 because you can tell the difference between a HK$200 crab and a HK$60 crab.
The 大閘蟹 from 江記 is pretty good. Thanks!
