To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 今天下午試了一間意式餐廳,以灰色水泥牆及紅磚作牆,感覺年輕。一份午餐只是四五十元連飲品,感覺幾抵。得奬咖哩牛坑腩小鍋珍珠飯,咖哩調味佳,溫文有道不過辣。牛坑腩份量不少,炆得入味腍身富水準。星級夏威夷比蕯,製作介乎厚薄批之間,主要以菠蘿、火腿及肉碎作餡,整體口味以肉碎最為突出,帶點肉醬意粉的風味。鮮蜆蒜香煙肉忌廉汁扁意粉,蜆肉普通喇,無乜特別,忌廉汁味道稍稍鹹身,扁意粉入口挺滑,亦帶一定嚼勁。日式和麻照燒雞粒炒飯,出品熱辣,照燒汁和風味濃味道不俗。雞粒比預期嫩滑。炒飯用上小巧的珍珠米,飯香口感更見驚喜。以人均消費不用五十元的餐廳來說,食品水準物超所值,難怪門外有多人輪候入座!
