To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 難得週末和家人去吃飯,沒想到經歷了史上最差的服務。一進門沒人招呼我們,自己找座位坐下。然後半天也沒人問我們喝什麼茶!接著想找服務員問問題。舉手很久也沒人理,好不容易有個服務員來,說:我很忙的,你自己先看吧!點了個羊肉煲,結果拿了個煤氣爐,半天煤氣罐也沒拿過來。吃快完的時候點的燒鵝還沒來,問了個服務員能不能取消,答:你下了單怎麼可能給你取消?!然後頭也不回揚長而去了。好,再問一個:我們都快吃完了,燒鵝怎麼還沒到,能取消嗎?答:我們又不是只服務你一個人,要有時間斬啊!好吧,可能我無知吧,斬份燒鵝要一頓飯的時間。最後,買單,收銀員全程黑臉,最後給我單,我準備收起來,她說:你單還我啊,只給你看一下的。我說:那幫我再印一張吧。好,印是印了,結果往桌上一堆,我自己撿起來。我是來消費的,不是來受氣的,不會再光顧!
