Boyfriend and I were in Wanchai heading for dinner. Originally we were thinking of going somewhere else, but boyfriend stopped in front of this restaurant and wanted to eat here instead.

By day, it's a typical cha chan teng. But at night, they have dai pai dong style dishes. They even have beer by the big size bottle. They have a big menu that is only in Chinese but they have plenty of photos along with a set dinner set for groups of 2 and above that are only in Chinese. There is no English but when I was there that night, a Caucasian tourist came in by himsel, holding a copy of Lonely Planet. The staff helped him out and gave him an English menu.

Steamed Chicken with Spring Onions and Wine ($188). We ordered half a chicken as there was only two of us. The chicken was moist and not dry. There was a strong taste of alcohol and boyfriend said it was due to the fact they used gin as the sauce base. Thus, it was a pretty boozy chicken. I think the alcohol was  a bit much. But after a while, I didn't taste it so it must have evaporated.

Fried Potatoes and Black Pepper Beef ($68). I honestly didn't like it. It was far too peppery. Though the beef was really soft and it didn't feel like they over doused it with baking soda to soften the meat. I'm not a big potato fan so I didn't have that many potatoes. Just a few bites but it was super oily. Boyfriend enjoyed it. This was his dish of dreams.

Deep Fried Tofu ($48). The tofu was fried really well in that it was super soft on the inside and it was coated with a crispy coating. However, I felt the coating was too salty. It tasted like a mixture of salt and shichimi togarashi. After a while, I just peeled off the coating. It was way too salty for me to handle. I started to fear that I would get kidney problems after eating so much salt. Boyfriend, on the other hand, loved this dish so much, he still talks about it to this day.

It's a very clean establishment. Seating was spacious and not cramped at all. But the food was super salty. It was so salty, I downed bottles of water afterwards and I was still parched. I wouldn't return back.
