After a few weeks of rain, and a stressful time at work, it was good to have a meal with friend at Big Sur - randomly picked while walking through Soho - to relax and cheer myself up.We had a proper meal, consisting of some tacos, an appetiser, and a main. We had a proper meal, consisting of some tacos, an appetiser, and a main. We chose the fried halibut tacos, which were crispy and tasty. For my starter, I had smoked salmon, served in a large portion, soft, a little salty - but in a good way, since I like it like that. My friend had beetroot cheese for his starter, which may be a bit of an acquired taste, but he enjoyed and happily finished it all.
For my main, I had octopus, which came in a slightly smaller portion that I might have expected, but it was well-matched with cauliflower and hash brown on the side.
For dessert, we had 72% chocolate - I was worried, because strong chocolate can be bitter, but it was a nice surprise, smooth, soft and sweet. I also had a margarita, which was a refreshing complement to the food, with a strong lime taste and - of course! - a well-salted glass.
The restaurant is cozy and comfy, and the staff are friendly and happy to explain.
