I dined at 8 1/2 in Macau tonight, which is a one Micheline star restuarant. We opted for the a la carte menu instead of the set menu. Of the two complimentary dishes provided before or appetizer, I really enjoyed the asparagus parfait.

The Marinated Tuna Tartare included an abundant amount of imperial oscietra caviar and was infused with yuzu and tofu emulsion.

Our other appetizer, the Hokkaido King Crab, also included an abundant amount of imperial oscietra caviar. The crab meat tasted fresh but the portion was slightly underwhelming.

We ordered two pastas, the Artisanal Spaghetti and the Cavatelli. The Spaghetti was flavorful with three tender prawn, however the noodles were undercooked.

The Cavatelli was truly the highlight dish of evening. In partifular, the shellfish ragout (seafood soup) was very good and included generous portions of seafood. However, the pasta was a little undercooked as well and the sea urchin could have been more fresh.

For our main course, we shared a M9 and short rib. Honeslty, the best part of this dish was the potato parfait as the meat was just alright, if not underwhelming, if you want steak, go to a real steakhouse.

Before our desserts we were provided with a complimentary fruit sorbet, which was really refreshing and tasty. It actually tasted better than the desserts we ordered.

Our two desserts were the Millefoglie and the Lemon & Honey Semifreddo. Both desserts were a little heavy after a few bites.

Finally, complimentary chcolayes and candy were provided as well. Overall, we would have been better off without the main course and one less dessert dish.

In summery, this is a good option in Macau for Italian food, and I will come back for the Tuna Tartare and Cavatelli!
