There are often shops that sell food, clothes or even books in MTR station but can you imagine there is even very local shop that sell traditional HK snacks in the MTR station? I am quick lucky that I always pass through 坑口station and get a lot of chance to try and have some hot street food.
Snack Express provides a wide range of HK snacks from waffle, fish ball to cheung fan(rice noodle roll). I have already tried its waffle for a few time so this time I decided to try some savoury.
I chose Fishball with Siumai($16) and 2 boxes of cheungfan.
Let me talk about the very traditional "ancient" hk snacks food, spicy fishball. The texture of it was quite hard, and those fishball was quite small in size, but $8 for 8 small pieces was quite reasonable. In the beginning, The spiciness of it was not that high, just a bit of spicy, or you might even ask: Is this really spicy fishball or is just normal boiled fishball? However, when I had my 2nd piece, the spiciness started to run out quickly, my tongue experienced a sudden change which was actually quite adventurous and my mouth was hot. At this moment, it was an excellent idea to have a few piece of siu mai which originally have no flavour except the salty soya sauce taste. These siu mai helped levelling off the spicy feeling and balanced the flavours in my mouth. They were such a PERFECT MATCH!!
After that, I had one of my cup of "cheung fan". As I was a BIG FANS of sesame sauce(麻醬), I asked the staff to give me more and more!! She was very friendly and kind and add an awful lot and even asked me " is that enough or do you need some more?" I was so PLEASED with the smiling face from the woman serving me, and this demonstrated the Andy Lau's good service attitude.
I opened the cover, the strong smell from the mixture of sauce immediately spread around me. Gorgeous !! I used the long stick and picked up a piece, the white cheung fan turned red and light brown filling fully with the sauce. I quickly out it in my mouth, the smoothness and softness of the cheung fan contrasting with the roughness of the sesame sauce. MARVELLOUS!! The sauce was not too heavy, it was of the exact proportion!! Highly recommened!!
I haven't had such cheung fan for ages!! It reminds me of those old days when my grandma always buy me cheung fan, beef balls and siu mai from the market in shatin!! No matter the price of food is high or low, there is always a nice story and memory behind it!!

Never afraid to ask for more sauce because the staff really doesn't mind to give you MORE and MORE!!
Whenever I go to Hang Hau Station, there is always the smell of hk street food. But why? After waiting for 5mins, I finally got the Eggette(雞蛋仔). The freshly made Eggette was quite nice, although the flavour of egg was not strong enough comparing to those famous shop, it had a crispy outer shell that was what I am looking for. The price was not too expensive and acceptable, so if you passes through Hang Hau Station, Snack Express is definitely a good choice for some little treats!!
