Before I have a massive rant about eggs, I’d just like to mention that I like Coast. My friends like Coast. It’s convenient, has a fairly solid, albeit pedestrian, menu of meats, salads, pizzas, burgers - you get the idea. The veggie food is actually veggie. The environment is nice and spacious and simple - reminds me of a million and one chain wine bars in the UK. You are in very average but safe hands with Coast.However, it is one of the slowest places on planet Earth. It is in fact so slow that, looking across the pass into the kitchen, I thought I saw chefs breaking the laws of physics and actually move backwards in time. I think that a moment in the Coast kitchen could in fact halt the passing of time. Let me breakdown the facts…Toast - 20 minutes (the chef was cooking it on the steak griddle for some reason?), turkish toast (ie fancy toast) - 15 mins, eggs benedict - a whopping 40 minutes. I could understand if the kitchen was rammed and diners were queuing up outside, but of the 20 or so tables, there were two occupied - our 5 person and another 3 person booth. Why does it take 20 minutes to make toast and 40 minutes to poach a couple of eggs? Seriously. On top of this, it took badgering the staff 3 times to get the wait down to 40 minutes on two eggs. To their credit, the staff did go to the pass and make the enquiries, but even they were moving so slowly that the CERN institute would find them fascinating.So, when the eggs finally did arrive, I thought these would be the best things ever created in a kitchen due to the long wait, but no - very very average, bordering on poor. The toasted English muffins with lashings of slightly salted butter, were pale and soggy excuses (perhaps the toasting was skipped as the griddle was being used for turkish toast?), the piping hot eggs slightly runny, were soft but icier than a cold welcome from the wait staff, and finally the hollandaise. Right, let me explain something about eggs benedict (and I think Ramsey would agree), you have to have lots of hollandaise - it’s the raison d’etre behind the dish. It is supposed to be a piping hot sauce that covers the poached eggs and muffins, like a warm hug of French-ness. What I was served was a teaspoon of yellowish mayonnaise on each egg. It was literally as though the chef had whisked a little lemon and mustard into mayo. You may ask why I didn’t complain at the time? Mrs PieEatingMan was concerned that I might have died of old age in there waiting for the dish to be redone.My advice for those wishing to visit Coast; only go there to meet friends before moving on elsewhere. It is a convenient location, has a big sign, and can be easily described to even out of town guests. Arrange to meet there for a quick beer (you may want to call with your drinks order in advance), then shoot of somewhere else for better food. Or, you could just stick to south coast HK island? From breakfast to lunch to Happy hour to dinner, Coast never run out of ideas. 25% off early bird for breakfast, $40 dollar wine, $100 buck steaks and buy 1 get 1 free pizza. Coast is a place for quality food with bargain. This has to be one of my favourite pubs in Soho.Cuisine: AustralianFood rating: 4/10*Service: 2/10 Ambiance: 6/10Price: HK$110 pax* Food Rating: 6/10 is equivalent to 1 Michelin star, 8/10 to two Michelin stars, and 9/10 or 10/10 to three Michelin starsGrilled sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce (4/10)The steak was grilled nicely to rare, the meat was tender and full of flavour. The sauce was fairly standard, nicely made. The French fires was breathtaking, never thought of frozen fries have that much of potato flavour, nicely fried, extremely crispy.The best part of Coast is the location; it is right below Pure Fitness. 我真的很喜欢在中环吃饭,那种烹调方法十分适合我的口味,要逐一把中环的餐厅吃一遍今天放工已经很晚了............................只好在公司附近找吃的..............................误打误撞来到了Coast Bistro and Bar,记得早前在openrice看过没什么好食评的,不过不理了,不想再走了,于是进来了,吃完感觉都不错。已经很晚,不想吃太多,所以只叫了两款食物其中一款是虾salad,原来来香脆的牛油多士上放了一只大虾,做法虽然很简单,但味道很好,多士真的超脆,充满了牛油的香,而那个沙律汁也很好吃,酸酸的很开胃,而虾是又大只又弹牙,质素很好。大热天时,吃些沙律降降温感觉十分好,一开始吃太热的食物真的会令人反胃。精选的澳洲肉眼扒,此肉眼扒真的十分十分超值,只需$100!!!!!!!重量是200g!!!!!!!比自己买还化算,牛扒肉质很好,而且非常juicy,没有煎得过火,生熟程度刚刚好,配有香脆的炸薯条,薯条上来时我以为味道一般,因为我总认为粗薯条是比较好吃,但这个观念自吃这碟薯条后就改变了,原来幼的烤薯条都可以很好吃,薯味非常浓,炸得刚刚好,每条都很香脆,配有沙律菜,减低吃炸物的罪恶感总括这次经验十分好,食物质素很好,这份牛扒逢星期一至三都只卖一百大元,假以时日有机会,我一定会再来吃这份牛扒的!!!不过比较差的是环境,不是装修不好,冷气开得太少了,非常热,服务一般,而且地方不够干净,有蚂蚁...................... 继续阅读

Have had dinner at Coast quite a few times - best thing is that you can choose to have a proper sit-down meal (away from the sports on tv and the crowded bar) or you can choose to have your meal amongst all the action around the bar. It's always a great atmosphere (especially when the rugby is on) and the service is fantastic.Recommended:* Wagyu pizza* Kangaroo pizza* Any of their side dishes (I wish they would bring back the sweet potato mash though!)* Kangaroo or chicken pie* Any of their tasting plattersI don't think Coast tries to be something it's not - it's a good Aussie pub with decent food. If you want fine dining, you're better off going somewhere else. Sunday afternoons, cold cider, pizza and some live music. Bliss. 继续阅读

I recently visited Coast for the first time for a friends birthday diinner.I was thoroughly impressed. As I had never been before, however had heard of it through many people - my expectations were certainly met. There were 4 of us and as we arrived were greeted immediately by a friendly young girl. We each had a glass of wine that arrived almost instantly (despite how busy it was) and were beautiful wines. We shared starters - the prosciutto wrapped tiger prawns, beetroot and goats cheese salad, and the coast signature mini pies. Each were delicious!! Especially the mini pies! However the mini pies did slow down our wait for our starters, but we were told they would take about 15 minutes upon ordering. We each had separate mains - I can't remember exactly what my friends had but they were each impressed - I had the petit fillet with rosemary and garlic sauce and a side of mash potato and brocolli and beans. The fillet itself was cooked to perfection and served on a bed of snowpeas which was a lovely combination. I felt the sides were a bit under sized and there was a lot less brocolli then beans, but divine none the less!I was very impressed with Coast overall and have been back once since for some afternoon drinks and a pizza (roasted pumpkin - delicious!!)I would highly reccomend dinner at Coast. 继续阅读
