It has been a while since I have been to Soho due to the pandemic reducing going out habits to 0. So it was very shocking to see just how many places have shut and how few choices there are left. Thankfully, the best ones are still around, and Le Moment is definitely one of them.
If you are a pretentious dweeb, Le Moment is not the place for you. It is a cosy boutique restaurant that has worked very hard and perfected its craft. The salad is just enough to freshen your palate. The tomato soup and garlic cheese bread are the best kind of comfort food you can imagine. But it is the aged steak that is the absolute main event - you cannot find a more tender steak in Hong Kong. It practically melts in your mouth. And the mushroom sauce is absolutely delicious. Add a bit of foie gras or the amazing scallop, and you would happily pay double what you do for this wonderful dinner. For those who like variety, both the lamb and the pork are also highly recommended - but for me, I go for the steak and nothing but.
The wine list is incredibly unique - ask for a recommendation, and you will get an honest assessment that will undoubtedly suit your tastes and complement the meal. And on a good evening, you may even get serenaded with a rock guitar tune or six!!
Le Moment is definitely Hong Kong hole-in-the-wall. For those who don't 'get it', sorry about all the drawings on the wall that customers leave behind complimenting the restaurant. Sorry for its cosy atmosphere. Sorry for its stunning food. And most sorry for the honest and hardworking staff who have been perfecting their craft and making this place successful for years. If you are all about soulless commercial experiences where you get to show off how much money you spend, and how much you know to the staff who are probably spitting in your food for telling them how to do their jobs, Le Moment is way too awesome for you.
Long live Le Moment!!!
