义香 is conveniently located right next to 元合, my favorite Chiu Chow grocery store in Kowloon City. On the Saturday afternoon that I visited, it was crowded with customers both for eat-in and takeout. The lack of air conditioning didn’t seem to deter others from ordering hot food like 豆腐花. But with the suffocating hot weather, my friends and I opted for 冻豆浆($6) X2, 冻豆腐花($6), and 炸三宝($10) for a quick snack. Contrary to most people, I found the 冻豆腐花 at 义香 to be smooth yet weak in soy flavor. I

The lack of air conditioning didn’t seem to deter others from ordering hot food like 豆腐花. But with the suffocating hot weather, my friends and I opted for 冻豆浆($6) X2, 冻豆腐花($6), and 炸三宝($10) for a quick snack.
Contrary to most people, I found the 冻豆腐花 at 义香 to be smooth yet weak in soy flavor. It was barely cold, so for such a hot day this was really not satisfying and refreshing enough. So was the 冻豆浆 which was also not cold enough to quench my thirst from the heat. The strong discernible “charred” or burnt taste was fine with me, but the undesirable temperature of the soy milk was not.
炸三宝 was also a disappointment. They were too greasy and not fried thoroughly, like the fried wontons (炸云吞) with doughy uncooked skins. Even the fried stuffed tofu (炸酿豆腐) were not properly cooked and had no noticeable soy flavor. There wasn’t a bit in the bowl that could lead to enjoyment.
Perhaps it was the crowd and the staff was too busy, or may be it’s just what it is. I have yet to find any 豆香 at 义香.
