Where the old meets new: Well hidden next to the Nam Shan Estate Market, the Casa Kitchen is a warm lovely restaurant with delicious cafe menus and very welcoming staff. Lunch sets start at 11:30am and each comes with a soup or salad, plus a drink. Soup of the day was a HK-style borscht, stirred with cabbages, carrots and a spicy kick. My main was a fabulous black truffle asparagus risotto topped with pea sprouts and a pair of giant pan-seared scallops with roes on. Served steaming hot, I loved the fact that each spoonful was packed with asparagus and rich truffle cream. Highly recommended.

It’s mid-week so I treat myself to a dessert, there’s a selection of French tartes you can choose from. I picked the mango passion fruit tarte and it’s gorgeous. The base was similar to the cookie dough of an egg tart, and the filling was beautifully yellow, tasted sweet and sour, and decorated with passion fruit seeds.
The fruit tea was noteworthy too. It’s absolutely fragrant, a little sweet and there’s a slice of lemon afloat- summer in a cup.
p.s. Here they’ll give you a paper to mark your orders, then you’ll pay it at the cashier first and wait to be served. Lemon-infused water and condiments like Parmesan cheese can be found on the self-serve racks.
