Another dinner here at Yayoi! I always book ahead even if it’s on-the-day to enjoy the 25 asian miles 😅😝.

Tonight, I will try their Cold Soba noodles as I’ve been fond of them since little bit lately, most soba noodles are made with more wheat flour than buckwheat so the unique and distinct flavor and texture of the noodles sadly changed as well 😔.

My first impression of it was the presentation was beautiful and very authentic but it tasted the complete opposite.

The noodles are springy and soft but not as firm as I wanted which meant it was made with predominately wheat flour instead of buckwheat 😕. They were also all tangled up together and was quite hard to separate it.

The dipping sauce and noodles were both not cold at all which is surprisingly as it took 20 minutes to serve it up. The dipping sauce was also very dilute literally no soy sauce taste. The sauce bowl was also extremely small for the amount of ‘sauce’ they gave so even the smallest bundle of noodles overfilled very easily.

Adding the seasonings did not help the taste as much but the wasabi definitely helps add some sort of flavor to the noodles. The green onions they gave was also all dusty and artificial looking. Horrible.

The portion of this was definitely enough as it was not even good, every bite I was taking made me very sad that I didn’t order something else. I really don’t recommend this dish as it is nothing but flaws.

One word to describe this dish would be Stale. It was not cold and not hot, even though it is supposed to be cold, nothing about this dish was cold. The noodles were all tangled together which also meant it was old. The sauce is tepid and the seasonings are a joke.

My companion also ordered a set and it took 35 minutes for it to arrive… I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. The waiting time for the food is one of this restaurant’s worst features. The restaurant only had 2 customers including us and all of us was waiting for the food for quite some time. But then after 35 minutes, all of them came out. This just confirmed the fact that they rather let the food sit waiting than serve it straight away, just to avoid going back and fourth between kitchen and dining room.

I’m very disappointed in my meal tonight as I came here a few nights ago and that meal was absolutely delicious. The lack of consistency is making me doubt whether I should come here again, but I will just to see if there other foods are good or bad.
