Hello there! It's been a long time since my last review. Just last week, I visited a restaurant I've been passing by every week for the past two years, but have never even tried once. Hello there! It's been a long time since my last review. Just last week, I visited a restaurant I've been passing by every week for the past two years, but have never even tried once. Colleagues of mine wanted to have dinner the other night and were craving for Italian. After unsuccessfully making a last minute booking, we decided to head down Tsim Sha Tsui and try our luck by walking in. When we got to Grappa's, the usher told us that there was no available table, but that we could wait at the bar for the time being.
A waiter finally gave us a table that could fit double the size of our group (the party who reserved was a no show). What surprised me with the service is that the staff even carried one of our handbags when he led us to the table. That I say is thoughtful and yet a bit strange.
When it was time to order, we hesitated. Everything sounded delicious and what a sight! Pesto angel's hair as the base, half-cut red cherry tomatoes forming a line in the middle, pan-fried fresh scallops on both sides of the red line and finally on top, parsley. I could admire it all day if only I was not so famished.

Although by look it was amazing, taste on the other hand was quite a let down. It was plain. No 'dancing', no 'singing', no 'music' in the mouth. No sensation. Even though the freshness and saltiness of the scallops complimented the pasta, the dish literally lacked taste. What a pity!
For dessert, it was purely out of self-indulgence that we shared a pear crumble for three. The pear crumble just as it appeared tasted just as great. The coulis was soft and hot. The vanilla ice cream too hard at first, but was a good blend once it melted.

Since I was not the only one who noticed the bland food, I would strongly suggest Grappa's to spice things up a little. Please make it a dish to remember!
