Despite looking rather local chinese-y from the outside, with a brightly lit red/blue/white sign, the overall experience was not too shabby. The owner, a man in his 50's, might look a bit surly at first, but keep smiling and joking with him and he'll warm up to you. We sat at a table next to the grill, and the smoke gave me a splutter at first but then I got used to it, I guess. The Thai lad manning the grill station looked like he's barely out of school. Service isn't too bad when you get it.We
We ordered a few grilled items: ox tongue, rib eye, lamb chop, okra, oyster mushroom (only a few pieces cut very small), and grilled eggplant (pork floss was added but it didn't work, weird flavours and eggplant was too mushy) all of which was average as the meat was too dry (the ox tongue looked furry), and the vegetables was cooked but lacked that barbie smokey flavour. The papaya salad was much better, one of the spicier ones I've had in town, and packed in a good punch with a crunch. The very large prawn cake looked and tasted like a factory made pancake, but it was alright with the sauce, no complaints there. The green chicken curry was oily, didn't have much curry sauce, and the chicken was stringy and tough. The pad thai was the best dish of the night, it was a very tomato-y rendition which gave it a ketch-up colour and a tangy taste.
