I am particularly attached to Amigo - the excitement of going to a classy French restaurant with my mother when I was a child being a feeling that I still hold dear to. We arrived on 1/7 - a public holiday nonetheless - to a bustling restaurant filled with people. The waiters greeted us warmly and we were brought to our table. We went with the standard $400 set lunch, which consisted of a choice of starter, soup, main course, and dessert, complemented with free house wine - red or white, but since I didn’t drink, the waiter offered to serve me soda instead, a kind gesture. It also included post-lunch coffee or tea.
I had a garoupa fish starter, baked in creamy cheese and served with spinach. The soup I chose was the clear mushroom soup - an amazing hearty soup that I gulped down - didn’t even remember to take a photo!
The main course was a scallops linguini, the pasta tossed with multiple different herbs. You could definitely taste the difference in caliber of pasta compared to the average restaurant - this one had that extra kick in flavor.
We ended lunch with a mango mousse cake and their signature Amigo ice cream chocolate truffles. A lovely nostalgic trip down memory lane, I would not hesitate to return again.
