The week has been hectic for me, so I came here for a Thursday after-work drink to wind down. I've been here several times before; they have always been pretty heavy-handed with the alcohol shot in their cocktails, so for an OK drinker like myself, I like to come here to get a good buzz.HH was a 40% discount deal instead of 2-4-1. HH was a 40% discount deal instead of 2-4-1. I ordered a refreshing lychee mexjito - loaded with fresh mint leaves and crushed lime wedges, it also had the lychee taste (I suspect from lychee liquor as there was no trace of fresh lychee fruit). The size is about a third smaller than their normal hour drinks.
As snack we had some guacamole and corn chips - I like the way the corn chips were unsalted, but the lack of taste was not made up by the guacamole, which was a bit under-seasoned. At $78 a pop it was pretty steep - a standard rice-bowl portion of guacamole which was not enough for the medium bread-basket of chips. Its meagreness deterred me from trying their ceviche.
Not sated, we went for a chilli con carne ($108), which was again a small portion consisting of a small bowl of overcooked rice, accompanied by a pretty disproportionately-sized pan of chill. The taste was ok, but I preferred more spiciness so had to add some Mexican hot sauce. There was also no sign of kidney beans which would have made the texture much more balanced. The meat has been stranded out and was a bit overcooked so there was no fibrousness anymore.
Next time I think I will just stick to the drinks here.
