At the area of Wan Chai, the street food favourite banh mi has been taken through a modern and sophisticated twist by a new Vietnamese eatery Com Banh Mi. They make their Vietnamese baguette in a non-traditional way, commonly packed with vibrant flavors such as turkey liver pate, sausages, cilantro and ginger puree, tangy fish sauce Sriracha mayo, whilst also serve some Vietnamese classics that come in several meat and vegetarian options, like Com Ga with chicken and spring rolls. There are three
There are three baguette sandwiches that we order, crispy pork belly, iberico pork ribs and lemongrass beef satay. The fact that these baguettes are not homemade but are in-sourced from quality supplier, they are pretty nicely toasted with golden-brown crispy crust and chewy center; in particular, I am fond of the iberico pork ribs filling that is tenderly cooked and flavorfully marinated.
Nothing beats a generous dish of chicken broth steamed rice, with a playful of condiments from cilantro, fried shallots, cucumber and pickles, to serve with our choice of shredded chicken and roast duck.
The spring onion and ginger puree is especially delightful that gives a wonderful aroma.
Made fresh upon order, the rice paper rolls come after the garlic butter wings. While the latter is strongly seasoned and fried to crisp, the rolls actually impress us more with chewy paper wrapping, a mixed fillings of vermicelli, shredded radish and carrots, cilantro and shrimp.
After all, the menu is concluded with a list of admirable milkshake creations where I loved a Caramel Viet Coffee Shake the most. This wonderful sweet treat definitely worths a hit!
