My friend told me that there was a new hotpot place in North Point, which is on my way home from work. I looked at the reviews online and it looked really nice so we decided to give it a try. We booked a table for Friday to catch up.While we were looking at the menu and deciding what to order, the waiter put the seasoning tray in front of us. While we were looking at the menu and deciding what to order, the waiter put the seasoning tray in front of us. Like many other hotpot places, there were different toppings to choose from to add to your personal soy sauce dish. I had chili, onion and garlic. There were also cilantro, sesame sauce, satay sauce, chili oil etc. After we picked what we want, the waiter took the tray to another table.
We picked the fish maw "beauty" hotpot, thinking it would be healthier than the others (just to make ourselves feel a bit better, but it's still hotpot, after all ). Other than fish maw, the soup also had a "black chicken" (silky fowl). Once the soup boiled, we started eating away at the chicken while we were waiting for the dishes we ordered to arrive. The meat was super tender. We also loved the soup base, which was very flavourful.

The first dish to arrive was the dumplings. We got scallop vegetable seedling dumplings and chive dumplings. We took the option of ordering "mixed" dumplings, so we got three of each dumpling (if it wasn't mixed, you would get six). The price was then the price of the more expensive dumplings. The two types of dumplings looked quite similar so it was difficult to tell them apart. They were also bursting with ingredients and quite big in size! I liked the vegetable seedling dumpling as it is not a common filling for dumplings.

Next, the truffle balls and shrimp balls arrived. Again, we chose the option of ordering two kinds of balls, so that we would have three each and be charged for the more expensive kind. The ingredients were very fresh and the meat was springy. The shrimp ball also had cheese inside which was delicious!

We also ordered the vegetable platter which I really recommend. There were so many different kinds of vegetables and the box was packed to the brim. All this for only HK$88! The vegetables were also clean and fresh. Super good value.

Since my friend and I don't eat beef, we ordered fish sashimi. The fish was super fresh so there was no fishy smell to it. The meat was also very nice. It came with soy sauce and wasabi for dipping. We finished the whole thing within a matter of seconds. There were no bones except for the last piece, which we put in the hotpot to boil and eat.

Since we couldn't decide on which dessert to have, we ordered both. The first one was the taro and sweet potato balls with herbal jelly and the second was black sugar "aiyu", which also has a jelly-like texture. The taro and sweet potato balls were very springy. I liked the "aiyu" more, which tasted refreshing (since it is apparently treated with lemon) and had a slightly sweet taste with the black sugar. I wish I could eat more!

Overall the restaurant was quite nice. The food was all clean and fresh and the environment is very nice for sitting and chatting over hotpot. It is on the pricey side but I think the quality of the food and the environment justifies the price.
